The slightly regional differences of this storm are crazy. I'm not far from you, I live in downriver region of Michigan and it started snowing here around 7:30ish. We had over an inch by 9pm. Then it just went NUTS. Looking outside right now and you can barely tell that I shoveled only an hour ago D:

snowwed all day. Light snow with some gusts early in the day. Afternoon changed to heavier. By about 4pm blizzard got here. As of right now, there's about 12-15 inches fresh accumulation with some drifts over 3 feet.

I've already got 6 inches so bring it on I say! At this point I'd say this is probably the 2nd worse storm I've ever seen. Worst was Northern lower michigan, lake effect snowstorm dropped 17 inches overnight D:. I had a 2002 Ford Taurus, and it's all dirt roads that don't get plowed. That was some of the worst driving conditions I've ever had.

I've got the ice pellets hitting my windows now too. It's been pretty mild north of Detroit up until now except for the wind. I'm not looking forward to my wife needing to drive into work in the morning although the investment in an AWD car is looking like a pretty good decision at this point.

I am a bit NW of you / Wauconda and it has been the same here. I'm looking out the window now and it appears as though some drifts are easily 4 feet or higher. The North and West sides of my house have the worst drifts. Thankfully my driveway is on the South side, and unbelievably still has a bare spot! The shoveling "shouldn't" be too terrible if the drifts continue to develop in the same areas as they are now.

The wind gusts are incredible. Thankfully we didn't have any freezing rain or I am sure many trees and power lines would be down to complicate things even further.

All schools have been shut down in our area, and I know my kids can't wait until morning to get out and play in the snow. I'm looking forward to snapping some pictures.

She could probably make it in her old Focus but I feel better about her driving the AWD Milan in this mess. I couldn't say what the roads are going to be like in four hours and I don't really want her getting stuck. I'm not planning on going anywhere tomorrow, personally.

I walked into the middle of my street, snow is up to my knees! The fire hydrants are 3/4 covered in snow, and the sidewalks are up to my waste. Yeah, this is pretty fucking crazy. And its not over yet...

We're suppose to get 18" by Thursday so snow plows are at the ready which I love cause NY is broke yet these guys have already been by my house 3 times and there's not more then 2" so far.

Schools are all closed here on Weds. The corporate offices where I work are closed as well, as are the offices most of my friends work at. I hope I get get my snowmobiles started up tomorrow

PS, I was just in Wisconsin last weekend (though a lot east as I was in Sturgeon Bay), drove through a bit of snow on Friday (by a bit, I mean very little visibility, and couldn't see where the road ended and the ditch started... hehehe.) looks clearer here than it did over there, but, the snow is piling up here quite a bit.

Looks pretty quiet. Of course, it's 12:40 a.m. here...so that's what? 3:40 a.m. there? Why aren't the city crews out plowing the streets?

I wonder how many neighbors I just pissed off. Running the snow blower for an hour and a half at 3 in the morning .
If I didn't do it now, my little Toro would never make it through this shit in another 5 hours.
Some of the drifts were a good 2 feet deep, my blower is only a foot and half tall.

In my 36 years here, I've seen this much snow, but never, EVER weather like this.
