Wrong.

Spartans fought with a skirt drawn almost up to the crotch, wore stretched linen over bronze scales, or wore Bronze brestplates. They did not wear...those things...

have these reviewers missed the hundreds of other movies based on this relative time period?

Wow, are you absolutely sure you know what you're talking about? Because that is not at all what they wore.

I wish people would stop nitpicking about this type of thing. It's a movie, it's there for your entertainment, it's not meant to teach a lesson or change your life or transport you back to that time period or whatever. It's supposed to look cool and draw your attention in a (hopefully) positive way. If this type of movie doesn't appeal to you then fine, don't see it, but you don't have to rip it apart and try to ruin it for everyone else. I thought the cinematography looked really cool, and I love fighting movies, so I'm going to go see it. If it sucks too bad, they just earned my 9 bucks based solely on the trailer I saw a few months ago when I decided to see the movie. Anything more than that is gravy.

The movie will look awesome, but that it as far as the appeal goes; it could give some a weird boost of testosterone perhaps. I don't like how crazily innacurate the movie seems to be, from thier lack of armor (which could have been misconstrued from inaccurate drawings of the time?) to their use of swords, but that is to be expected from an 'artistic' movie adaptation of a glamourized comic book interpretation of glorified ancient records of a historical event.

It will be a good movie, from just sheer awesomeness, but not that noteworthy.

It's always funny how out of 20 or 30 "critics", there are a few that are so off base.

Ok, anyone who knew a little about ancient greek history or even played a semi-accurate game of that time (such as Rome: Total War) would know that spartans wore armor.

I mean, here is a picture of a statue memorial of king Leonidas (the man who the spartans formed a circle around after he fell in the Battle of Thermopylae) that can be found in Sparta itself. Picture He is wearing armor, and even this may be less armor than they actually wore for the sake of a prettier statue.

One of the most famous spartan soldiers were the spartan hoplites. Picture Definately wearing armor.

My point? Spartans didn't fight in military battles almost naked.

I am unsure if you are referring to people not understanding that Spartans wore armor, or if you think that I am being a stickler for realism.

I'm not letting realism get in the way of enjoying this movie, although I do believe that some realistic aspects would add some credence and substance to the movie. However, I believe that the pure awesomeness of this movie will overcome most faults.

Wait, did I just copy Legendary?

Why's everyone getting so upset about the historical accuracy... its a movie. You all realize Gladiator was based on history too right? But wait, it takes 3 or 4 difference parts of history and meshes them together... those bastards and their distortion of history!!

it's a film intended for enjoyment... if you want a history recount, get off your ass and read. When did people stop watching movies to enjoy an escape from reality?

As if a historical account of an age you couldn't access isn't an escape from reality....

Not that I'm letting the historical accuracies get in the way of me seeing the movie.

exactly. I would think second that fat orge looking guy with some wierd looking arm and the rhino like creature that like 10 extra horns came on the screen in the trailer that would be enough to stop all this complaining of historical accuracy.

I don't even know why people are complaining about historical accuracies since this movie is based on a grahic novel, not history.

Yep. Coming on again at like 1 or 2AM EST. I missed the first showing so I have my Tivo set to record the re-run.

Why are people so obsessed over this movie? It's just a movie...

I don't get it either. It's about a war of 300 vs 301+. Great ... now WTF is so special about it?

I guess what I am saying is that you are not alone. This movie just seems overhyped. Nothing about the plot has grabbed my attention. Probably because none of hte adds tell you much about the plot. There is the sign of a true winner!

Apparently the special effects are good. I just wish the fanboys would admit for once that it's the primary reason anyone is excited over this movie.

That was either the driest sarcasm I've ever read or you 're the kind of guy where everything is just over your head.
