I'll try to ignore the scoffing of the C crowd, but I like it and the ability to create Linux binary is useful for me, too.
Anyone?

I use both purebasic and powerbasic.
Purebasic create linux, Mac, windows, even amiga binaries.

RealBasic is well suited for academic or hobby projects. For real work I'd much rather go with any .NET technology to develop a windows application because it provides a comprehensive framework.

So, I have a (fairly) vague understanding of what the basic language propers offer. But I'm curious, what's the api situation like in your setup? stdout I'm sure. Anything more powerful than line-based stdin? I guess there must be a file io api. How about graphics toolkits?

I thought about using RB for a recent project, and may still do so. I've never used it for any other projects. I've heard that the cross-platform capabilities don't work quite as expected or advertised. What's your experience creating cross-platform apps using REALBasic? I'm more interested in creating Windows and Mac binaries rather than Linux binaries, but having that option is nice, as well.
