Yet another AMD troll thread by QP. God I hate ATI so much.

Using the 11.4 catalyst drivers. Now, I can no longer use my HDMI audio receiever. While connected, my screen goes blank (no monitor signal). Turning off the receiver restores the picture. It started when I was messing with the desktop settings trying to figure out a way to disable extneded desktops. Apparantly I enabled an eyefinity display group setting, and there is no way to undo it.

I have tried reinstalling the drivers, reverting to previous drivers + using driver sweeper - no good. The 11.4 drivers have apparantly damaged my video card's hardware from what I can tell. I have searched around and found no viable solutions. I only found one thread with someone with a similar problem, but no replies.

I may try reformatting windows this weekend but I'm not hopeful that will solve the problem if reverting drivers + driver sweeper did not.

So, any ATI fanboys out there know how to possibly fix this problem?

Locking needlessly inflammatory thread.

Step 1: Pull the card out
Step 2: eBay the card
Step 3: Buy an nVidia card.

By the way you wrote the OP this is the best solution for you since you obviously don't like AMD and the only other viable option is nVidia.

Yup I am about to. Never had issues like this with Nvidia. Been plagued with them one after another since I bought this thing.

The fix is buy nvidia cards from now on, and hammer that 5870 to oblivion! I'll keep on enjoying my 6950 unlocked using those evil 11.4 drivers that don't give me problems, and you'll stop posting cr@p like this, everyone wins! Except the 5870 when you do destroy it...

edit:
I wouldn't want to help you, with the way your mind is already closed, and the way you deride those who can potentially help you by calling them fanboys. You linked to one other similar guy, out of the thousands of amd cards in existence. Just buy your 570 and be done with it.

Just make sure you install the 196.75 drivers with your new shinny Nvidia card.

Yeah you have to be careful some of Nvidia's drivers compleatly bricked their cards.

Ok in all seriousness have you actually tried contacting AMD about this instead of complaining in forums? I once had a problem like this years ago with my old x1950. I took the x1950 out and installed an old pos I had (x300 SE) and removed all the drivers. When that didn't work I plugged the x1950 into a different PC to sort of reset it with power cycling. After that I reinstalled into my system and installed the current drivers and didn't mess with settings anymore.

IIRC the driver for the HDMI Audio device in ATI graphics cards is separate from the main ATI display driver. If you Driver Sweep'd or used ATI's own driver uninstaller in automatic mode, you would have removed the HDMI audio driver and not installed a new one with the new display drivers. Try looking through the various CCC releases until you find the newest HDMI Audio drivers. They're in the optional downloads.

How do you accidentally enable the eyefinity display group and don't you need 3 monitors for that option to appear?

Start off stating you hate AMD, and ended with asking AMD fanboys for help probably ain't going to help you.

Uninstall the driver via safe mode(ccleaner) and use whatever drivers you use before. If it is the driver that killed your card, let AMD know and they will send you a new one. PLEASE DONT EBAY DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS! Only evil suckers do those cursed acts.
