never would have thought Hilary would lose to Obama given the history of the US.

would have thought racism > sexism.

apparently, i'm wrong. america rather vote male of any race, than a female.

She's a bitch, that's all you have to know.

Helps that he is a great speaker as well.

But if she had been someone warm and fuzzy and likable then I am sure she wins.

Your missing the point. Obama is winning because:

1. We don't want a trend of President's within a family.

2. He promises real change.

And 3. He is impassioned as a leader.

Well, black men were allowed to vote before women, so why be too surprised?

But I don't feel like either played a role in the election, and it definitly shouldn't be boiled down to racism vs sexism. People just favor Obama. I couldnt' tell you why, seeing as I really don't like either of the two.

EDIT: Apparently, people voted for Obama because they think he will change things. lol.

I don't think it really has anything to do with that. And while I'd hope that it would be the general public realizing that Hillary is actually a closet warmongerer, I think it has more to do with appearance.

Obama is a powerful and charismatic orator. Hillary on the other hand:

Not so much. Her recent negative and hypocritical tone lately isn't going to help.

I wish that was longer because from the sound of it the crowd did not go along with it at all

Race and gender are outside issues in this election. The candidates are not defined or confined by those terms.

There are a lot of women I would vote for, Hillary Clinton is not one of them. She has already been President according to her. Give someone else a chance.

America is not as racist as a few decades ago, people are much more open minded, unlike some of you who likes to think we are still in 18th century.

Agreed. Jedi's theory somehow manages to ignore the fact that there was a viable white man in the election, but he didn't garner enough support.

I'm not a Hillary supporter, but I still find that painful to watch because i'm embarrassed for her. She could get some of the top advisors in America, yet not one to prevent her from doing that in public?

there's an obvious double standard... people can call hillary a cold bitch till the cows come home and Obama can attack her unlikableness and no one bats an eye, but Hillary mentions MLK Jr. once and gets branded a racist. from the beginning, the media's handled Obama with kid gloves and he hasn't gotten anywhere near the type of scrutiny that Clinton gets for every suit, cough, sniff, or make-up.

but that aside, I don't think race or gender has anything to do with the outcome of the democratic primary... people want what Obama's selling, damn reality.

I don't think it is the media's fault as much as Clinton. Look at the way she conducts her campaign.. clearly stating she plans to follow the rules with MI and FL and then holding a victory rally and backtracking after she wins. Then floating an anonymous source saying she might go for Obama's pledged, afterwards denying and saying Obama 'owes the public a promise to do the same.' She is doing some aggressive political maneuvering that deserves scrutiny.

What has Obama done? He has generally conducted himself ethically. The worst he has going for him is his inexperience and the media has been all over him for it. You can't blame the guy for not being scum.

Honestly I don't understand the OP at all. He immediately goes to the sex/race card and completely side steps the possibility that a plurality simply feel that Obama is the better candidate.

So far I think Obama is winning because because people think he's the best choice. And I think they are right. He happens to be male and part African. Big fucking deal. I would be voting Obama if he were a woman and green.
