some people think that 1.x pounds is too heavy for a tablet; I think it's a fair trade for a device that runs full windows.

What good is full Windows on a tablet when only the Metro part works really well with touch operation? That would bug me more than the unwieldy weight of the Surfaces.

I think Microsoft is catching up on its mobile ecosystem, but right now even Android has more fully established tablet apps. I think if you are a student or something and you have to live on one device its Surface Pro all the way, but I don't think that makes it the best outright tablet. A nice ultrabook gives you a much better keyboard, and an iPad gives you a better tablet experience.

The Surface Pro's now all come with the Surface Pen. That alone makes it a much better tablet than any of the others.

My Surface Pro 2 goes with me pretty much everywhere. iPad Mini 3 if I don't have enough room to carry the SP2. I still have my TF101, and it runs adequately on a 5.1.1 rom (KatKiss) but the only thing I use it for is comics. Otherwise, I don't have a use for it. Can't even use it as a decent digital picture frame, because no Android app seems to pull from a network share correctly!

I use WinX via touchscreen all the time - works ok for me.

I got the tablet apps I want - IE, Chrome, Office, RDP, file explorer ^_^ And if I really MUST use an app...that's why I have an iOS phone.

same here. Still has my TF101 ever since it came out...even with the keyboard! It's like a grandpa nowadays and i only use it for 1-2 *ahem* media app. The hardware does seem to hit a plateau and could no longer handle some of the newer apps.

Sent back the ipad4 for the SP3 because i need to use RDP and some other IT applications for work which Apple stupidly and unwilling to support!

After owning an Android phone for 6 years I decided to switch to new iPhone 6s +, and from my experience thus far, I have very little complaints. I also own a couple of Android tablets, and for the kids they are great, and so is the iPad. I myself prefer a full fat windows tablet, as I own a SP3 and a Surface 3.

So for me personally - It's

Phone: iOS
Tablet: Windows 10

I don't get all this surface love. The CEO at my last job specifically requested one (high end, $2,500 last year- surface pro with the best digitizer pen) and I played with it for a few hours. A nice laptop if you avoid the touchscreen (pressing dialog pop ups was really hard unless you had the pen handy, which means: stop typing, find pen, click - it hurts my workflow compared to using a mouse) but a really awkward tablet with limited apps. He also had random restart problems, replaced the surface and had the same problem. The pen wasn't nearly useful enough out of box (it needs more preloaded pen apps, like samsung does). Overall, he should have gone with a thinkpad + an iPad. I really don't get the love, especially with the then limited app store. And chrome ran like a dog on it for some reason, an i5 with maxed out ram.
