Eh. I personally don't see it as a big deal for performance. I see it a big deal for bringing in additional changes and UI improvements.
Man, they gotta stop naming the versions after petty candy stuff. Make it more serious. I dunno, name it after species of aquatic mammals.
Replacing Dalvick with Art and the apparent ~35% battery life improvement is a very big deal.

You can enable ART now if you want. Replacing it just means that any apps that don't have compatibility are screwed.
Awesome sauce! While I don't expect HTC to release 5.0 for the One, the XDA community absolutely will. If bold is true, it will be nice to only have to charge my phone once during the day. *not being sarcastic*
HTC is excited about the new features in the Android L release and we cant wait to share them with you. We are committed to updating our flagship HTC One family as fast as possible as part of our HTC Advantage program. We will begin rolling out updates to the HTC One (M8) and HTC One (M7) worldwide within 90 days of receiving final software from Google, followed shortly thereafter by other One family members and select devices.
That is an experimental version of ART and yes an even more experimental version than whats found in the preview of L
That's 35% for the Nexus 5, which based on Ars's initial reviews badly underperformed the G2 in the web browsing test even after adjusting for the different battery size.Replacing Dalvick with Art and the apparent ~35% battery life improvement is a very big deal.

I think the large battery improvement comes from the queues synching of network requests in L. Wakelocks are the biggest part of battery consumption for idle use.my nexus 5 got 0% battery improvement in ART.
I apologize. the 35% battery improvement is definitely a big deal, but I think the ART thing is more under the hood changes that fewer consumers will notice. UI changes and functionality additions are very important still because they're readily visible and usable to the average user.Replacing Dalvick with Art and the apparent ~35% battery life improvement is a very big deal.

This is huge. Why did it take this long?
Looking forward to getting it pretty quickly on my Moto X and getting even more phenomenal battery life.
