Can you disable some of these stupid perks in the config file? Limit the number of frag grenades? Disable airstrikes or helicopter support?

I think you have some control, I played on a server lastnight that had martyrdom disabled, if you had it selected you would do a Last Stand instead.

On normal servers that have the radar map, I usually go with an assault rifle+ UAV jammer + deep impact, which seems to suit my style of play. I find that stealth is very useful on a lot of the maps.

Not much of a nade user, so I dont care about secondary nades as long as I get atleast 1 frag nade. (Reminds me how the german Kar98ers would get 3 nades and spam everyone in COD2 MP lol)

As for 2 primary weapons, I don't mind swapping my pistol for something if I am low on ammo for my primary weapon. Often, I end up with both an AK for close range and a G3 for long range.

Lack of bunny hopping is a strong positive, that alone makes me want to play more.:thumbsup:

yeah, i hate martyrdom too. a lot of people think it should only work if you have a nade in your inv. if not, then it doesn't work. although with last stand, if you have no pistol, you magically get one anyway.

also, bout martyrdom, don't use it on a FF on server and on a game type like headquarters or maybe its domination. if you die while your teammates are with you, they blow up too and you just stopped capping that point.

last stand isn't too bad because i usually make sure the guy is dead, although i've been killed by it a few times.

i always swap my pistol for something else if i can.

Last stand isnt so bad because it actually requires skill to hit them, and the enemy can prevent you from killing them by continuing to shoot you while youre down.

Martyrdom on the other hand requires lightning quick reflexes not to die from it if you killed them at close range, and requires no skill whatsoever. It is completely and utterly a total bitch move.

As annoying as the airstrike and heli are, you at least have to be someone decent in order to amass 5 kills in a row, although I think at least you should be limited to one per round per person. Far too often you can die, launch your saved airstrike and amass 5 more kills, ready to go right back at it again in a few seconds.

hmm... a limit to one per round per player would be a lot better.
but still, i've been on servers where its constant. some people are insanely good at this game.

Unless playing a real compact map with a lot of people, I've found last stand to result in killing a lot more baddies than martyrdom.

i'd patch it unless you don't mind your mpdata file (rank data) in your cod4 dir getting reset due to a bug

but you can backup the mpdata file anyways

I'd like to see them rebalance some of the weapons. I do like how many weapons have strengths and weaknesses and there's very good options from the start (M4 and M16 are both excellent for instance), but some of the later weapons are pretty lackluster for how long you have to wait to get them (MP44....wtf!).

Some of the attachments could use some work too imo, like ACOG scope on all weapons. It just seems slower or something bringing up the sights and most everyone I talk to or see prefer Red Dot over ACOG when given the choice. Also, Grip and M203 sometimes replaces Perk 1 for some weapons, but for others it doesn't.

Don't really have a problem with any of the perks mentioned here, like Last Stand and Martyrdom. They both have their uses and their counters. I do slot Martyrdom a lot since I prefer to play Headquarters and rush/cap the HQ and it definitely serves its purpose. I think the main problem with these Perks is that there's not really anything else you could slot in their place.

Don't really have a problem with Air Strikes and Helis either. Campers/Snipers tend to get them more frequently, but since I mostly play HQ, the trade-off is that you're not capping/defending HQs. In HQ, if you squat, you lose. It might be more of a problem in FFA or TDM games; I don't really see a problem with it in S&D or any other limited spawn game types or in larger maps.

Yeah, No kidding. These guys are ruining the game play with their annoying hopping around. I like the idea about Martyrdom allowed only if the player has a frag in their inventory. That is actually a pretty good idea, otherwise I totally agree with others, it is a toatl bitch move. Last stand is annoying, but atleast it requires some skill.

Me too. I jumped on lastnight for the first time in a week(had to play Mass Effect) and every server I played had at least two people bunny hopping consistently and then throwing out the usual racial slurs.

I would really like to find a couple of servers with moderators who keep the kids in check with their n words and bunny hopping.

Frankly, I wish there was a way to report them to get their keys invalidated. I'm so tired of these stupid white boys calling people n***ers all the time.

We are running sniper (64.34.184.17:28960) and hardcore (64.34.184.18:28960) servers.

Stop in and give us a shout - let us know what we're doing right, and what we're doing wrong.

We also host a CoD2 sniper server (64.34.184.16:28960), and a R & G server (64.34.184.16:28970)

Just unlocked the increased fire rate perk. Turns something like an AK47 into a bitch of a weapon, rifle with SMG cycle speed is bad ass.

Join some CS:S servers and you will enjoy hours of 14-16 year old kids' using this word over and over again on the team speak. Is it that bad at public schools nowdays that they have to vent on public servers? I can't believe how much hate is out there.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who is frustrated with this stuff, and it was a large part of why I stopped playing CS a couple years ago.

I just started using double tap with my G36 and basically one short burst takes just about anyone out. For me, it's way more effective than stopping power at least with this gun.
