Here's what I did...

Used claymores and duked it out at the ferris wheel (part 1).

Then in part 2, when the helis started unloading guys, I ran to the right and all the way back to the apartment buildings. Most of the guys didn't find me, but some did from long range. They got sniped. Some guys came from the side and were taken care of with the AK. Add 2-3 dogs to the mix.

When the chopper finally landed, I walked back slowly clearly a crapload of guys. Had to run back past the chopper to grab the captain. The good thing is that there are four guys from the chopper that helped out (sort of).

i just played on a Hardcore server (removes the hud, crosshair, and weapons do more damage). I may have to look for more of these. it plays a lot like CoD2 MP. pretty fun.

makes it more realistc since you can't see where your enemies are.

you can still get the airstrikes, helos, and uav by killing enemies though.

Just finished the SP campaign, and it's the best fun I've had on a FPS for a long time. I went in with low expectations (since I did not play through more than 3 missions of COD2.. it was so boring) but I was pleasantly shocked. The SP is very short...7-8 hours max, but amazing fun.

The MP as usual is solid..excellent maps and weapons. Some of the MP maps actually look better than the SP, graphically speaking, which is no mean feat.

Overall, money well spent; the MP should keep me hooked for a few months atleast. Now, for UT3 and crysis!

Yup, just finished it too. That was one hell of a game. Short and sweet, just how it should be.

i dunno, i think i may be getting tired of MP already. all the hardcore servers i join all play domination and I hate that. doesn't anyone play it with TDM, HQ, or Sabotage?

iron sights are fucking worthless in this game. i hate the radar, i hate all the damn airstrikes and the helos, i hate the ranking, the perks should not be in the game - i hate them, i hate playing against people who ahve higher levels and more perks/guns, you die way too fast, the enemy doesn't die fast enough.



goddamn, SoF: Payback better be good. i have a feeling its going ot be exactly like CoD4 though.

In the SP, the heavy scripting and endless respawn get old though. The objective is basically to run to the next trigger point to stop the respawn in the area. I played on veteran, and that turned out to be a mistake - enemies who hit with 95% accuracy, dead in three or four shors, teammates who can't hit the broad side of a barn, and 3 second respawns.

No matter how many you kill, they just keep respawing and it becomes pointless... they could respawn the entire world population from one burned-out house in Russia.

I'm still a lower level sarge, but have found that an AK-47 with red dot, 3 stun grenades, deep penetration perk, and that other weapon damage perk are enough to make you pretty deadly. Enough to take the top spot from time to time in TDM.

I guess you have to play more before you get the good sniper rifles, but an hour of AK-47 will give you enough upgrades such that the other guys don't really have a clear advantage over you, which is a good thing.

The M16 with 3 shot burst sucks so bad.

im a captain or level 50 . I get tons of extra xp for getting 1st in the server often. I average about 800-1200 xp per round.

No, sounds like he has his filter to show only Domination. I play HQ a lot as well as S&D. TDM never did make me happy in games. I need some sort of objective.

yeah, not this game...
i'm pretty decent at most other FPS games, usually get more kills than deaths but I just get raped in CoD4.

i don't think you understand what i'm saying. i know to change the filter.
i've joined several hardcore mode servers from a list i've found and they were mostly Domination with like 1 or 2 sabotage.

I just have to keep trying. wish they added a filter for hardcore servers.

Just finished the SP mode, which is what I got it for, and absolutely loved it. Loved the sniper missing in Priypat, reminded me fondly of STALKER. I'll give it a few weeks, and play through again on a harder level.

Not even remotely interested in MP at the moment.

Considering that they're all players just like you with the same amount of health (sans perks), the consensus is definitely that you suck.

Keep practicing. This is a game of skill. You dont just get kills, airstrikes and helis handed to you on a silver platter. You have to earn them.

CoD4 is the best MP since well...CoD2.

It might seem like endless respawn, but it isnt. CoD has never been like that. There are many situations where it might seem like theres endless guys, thats just because theres a lot of them. Keep shooting them, and they'll stop coming.

Yep, I thought they respawned endlessly at first too. And then when I did the tv station mission, after killing many of them, I realized that I heard less shouting and gunfire. Just keep on going and they'll eventually run out. It's basically your 5-man squad vs. 100 stupid terrorists every time.

i'm pretty decent at most other FPS games, usually get more kills than deaths but I just get raped in CoD4.

dude you will be fine. just takes a while to get used to any fps.

if you are good at others you will get better.

i sucked it up at 2142 the first couple of weeks then i became pretty darn good. now at cod4 i was terrible the first few days and the last couple of days ive started to play reliably better. today i placed top 3 on a decent number of rounds

one thing is learning the maps, the other is getting used to the physics, style of play and weapons.

just keep truckin. rankin up is annoying but if you complete the 3 challenges for each weapon, 25 then 75 then 150 kills you get 1600xp.

so do the m16 then the mp5 then the m4, then a heavy - etc...

look at your challenges and then do some of them too.

Yeah. except for that one time when it's you and a wounded sniper who can't walk against the 100 stupid terrorists.

I am playing this game on hard difficulty and it is a blast. This game is so refreshing from other banal FPSs. In fact, I have enjoyed the game so much more than Half Life 2 and it's subsequent episodes, and I enjoyed them all. I am not done with the game yet but I am pretty close I think.

The tactic I used to finally beat the damn sniper mission: stayed behind the ferris wheel and dodged back and forth killing the guys that tried to flank right or left, or who came over the platform. The pistol was most effective at this, and then I picked up an AK. When the chopper landed I just grabbed MacMillan and ran for it. Took a lot of hits but we made it in.

I'm in the Launch Facility mission right now. It's wild as hell, and I don't want the SP game to be over . Oh well, I can see expansion pack heaven coming for this game.

As great as it is, the SP is far too easy to get through even on Veteran save for a few parts but those are far and few between. Kill a few, nade the area, run forward, then kill the slackers.

MP is truly fantastic although grinding out some of the higher levels can be a bit tedious. Fastest way to do it is play TDM and go for a lot of the Challenges. Here's the build that I've found the easiest to really get my score high. Use a full auto assault rifle or SMG with a silencer, UAV Jammer, Steady Aim, and Claymore's until you can get Bandolier. With this, you can move around the map freely which I think is the biggest advantage in the game. Use the claymore's to stop would-be stalkers and then Bandolier so you can stay out longer without switching to a non-silenced gun.
