Played for about two hours. Had to crank back some settings to get acceptable FPS in widescreen mode, but it's still gorgeous and quite taxing on the system. Running a 7600GT so I didn't expect the world.

Gameplay is awesome. All the mechanics are the same as the previous titles, but the enemies appear quite a bit smarter about ducking in and out of cover. The firefight through the town in the first U.S. mission and subsequent battle in the TV station are wild. I still haven't made it through the big video room in four or five tries.

My squad mates still run through my line of fire all the time, which was my biggest complaint with COD2 single player, but other than that it has just been a blast so far.

Oh, also the trailer and the way they handled the training and cinematic intro are really excellent. One of the best ever imho.

I only played through the cargo ship mission in SP and I was pissed that they kept running or getting in front of me. I was also like "hey, let me shoot something!". I mean, whats the point in playing if your AI teammates kill everything? I think I killed like 3 enemies in the whole mission.

One thing thats really annoying in MP is that your teammates can block doorways and stuff. I guess it was that way in CoD2 but I don't really remember having as much trouble. I don't remember how many times I died because some idiot was blocking a doorway or hallway.

It also does not take much to die either!

At what ranks do you get to unlock more weapons and perks? All i'm unlocking is dumb challenges.

the iron sights are about worthless because with them up, you can't see anything. i've seen (via killcam) people with scopes and red dot sights and it seems a lot nicer.

TDM maps go by way too fast. Too bad they got rid of the CTF mode. CTF is my favorite game type of all time.

Just bought it. Played MP for a short while and it's awesome. I will start the SP in a few days time, after i finish Bioshock.

As much as it frustrated me last night I want to keep playing MP. I want to take off work and play. It's been awhile since a game made me feel that way.

Play the HQ mod it can go on for a while and its tons of fun. Do you have xfire ponti? PM me your xfire and we can play together or anyone else for that matter.

Im level 39 and you do get the red sights for the weapons. Then you have to go to create a class and put it on. I personally like the silencer more with the m4. Also in order to get a scope for a weapon you have to use that weapon. It isnt random by level so if you want it for the m4 you got to use the m4.

In my other thread I said so far there wasnt any bulllshit going on but I managed to pull a round to see what it will be. Pretty much guys were camping together and getting lots of kills and then were getting constant helicopter call ins so it was just camp camp heli heli camp camp. The mounted were camped to. Those helicopters can be a pain in the ass if your team doesnt understand that those have to be shot down the second they come.

I saw HQ mode was close to CTF but there were only like 3 servers that were playing it
I was reading a CoD4 forum that said you can unlock other game types, so maybe ctf is there? kind of retarded that you have to unlock them though.

I don't have xfire but I could get it.

I am really pretty bad at this game atm, although I did notice a bit of improvement last night. some people are just godlike at it already. I was pretty bad at CoD2 in the beginning as well though. Never got super good but could usually kill more times than I'd die.

I hate how you show up on radar without a silenced gun or that perk.

I want to play so bad though...man work sucks!! I do have 5 vacation days left that I have to use by the end of the month though.

Can't remember what level you get the red dot sight but I think it's around 6 or 7. I think I'm at level 9 right now so it's not real high. That's for the M16 and yes the sight is much better than the standard one.

I'm having a blast in MP! I have a hard time though trying to focus on killing people while simultaneously drooling over the environment and graphics around me!

Well worth the $50 i spent. Heck, i've been playing COD1, United Offensive Expansion pack, and COD2 online since they've all been out. And i know i'll be playing 4 for a couple of more years online.


Strangely enough though, i've NEVER played the SP in any of the COD games i've bought. I just buy it for the MP

I've only been playing the single player campaign so far.. but wow, the first cargo ship mission was epic towards the end. One of the best single player experiences I've come across so far.

Short single player games.

It takes so much more work now to put out a quality single player experience, modeling, texturing, cut scenes, levels, that to do a lenghty 40 hour single player campaign just isn't in the budget for most titles.

unfortunately...i havent seen many fps games that have a HUGE and lengthy storyline/single player...thats why theres the multiplayer, to keep you interested, so they make that as good as can be, cause you can only play single player so many times on so many difficulties.

but yeah, i 100% agree with you.

I got this game last night but didn't have time to play it and installed it this morning before work. I can't wait to get home to try it out.

Man I had to pull out my old COD 1 CD the other day and dust it off, I loved that game too. Back in those days I was really into Q3 and COD was similar to Q3 in terms of settings and everything so it was easy to transition and do well in COD.

Can't wait til tonight...

i like servers with low players, like 16 max. respawning is so fast, you die so quick. with too many players you might as well not bother to move.

helo and airstrike spam is f-ing ridiculous though. that needs to go.

Im finding the performance to be pretty pitiful on anything but a DX10 card w/ unified shaders. Even the 8600gts seems to be smoking my 7900GT in DX9 mode, and turning on shadows drops FPS really hard, but its either full shadows or all shadows.

The solution for those with the geforce 7 and below:

turn on the console
enter in RendererPreference 0 to change it to pixelshader 2.0 mode.
then enter in vid_restart

It looks nearly the same, lighting isnt as good, but still looks good - framerate is practically double. Why this isnt an option in the menus is absolutely beyond me.

If you really wanna enjoy this game at full settings at 1280x1024 or so, get no less than an 8800gts/gt.

Is it old news or not since I didn't bother reading the whole 4 pages on this thread but I saw this at my local CompUSSR (Plano, TX) which has this game for $49.99 plus the COD3 for free.
I need to go out and buy it tonight but the only kick is I believe the COD3 is a console game.

wtf? i can't join games again, keeps timing out. yesterday doing a ipconfig /renew worked. had to do it again today when I forst started playing. turned off the game and ate supper and took a shower, no I can't connect again.
