Apparently mother nature decided that MN was experiencing too much global warming with our mild winters the last 8 years.

Current Temp:

-11°F

Windchill:

-29°F (Advisory in effect)

I have a 1/8-1/4" thick layer of ice on the inside of my balcony door and I am feeling drafts where I have never before.

Man, I need to move south.

Will not go above zero till Sunday.

EDIT: It is currently warmer in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Barrow!

You don't know what you have until...

Lol, and I though we were cold. We had a high of 40 or so today, but we'll be lucky to get out of the low 20s on Sunday. We got about 4 inches of snow though, so it was worth it.

I <3 snow driving.

How do you have ice on the inside of your door?

Don't you use a heater?

We had -10 and lower temps for weeks it seemed last year - ice was nowhere near forming.

Not as bad here, but pretty cold. I hung blankets in front of all my windows, filled the bath with hot water so it would radiate some heat during the night, and made sure to cook a dinner that involved the oven, heh.

Edit: OK, that was exaggerating a little.

It's pretty common really. It happens a lot with older windows and doors as they are drafty.

Yeah I know what you guys mean. It's friggin' 58* degrees out here in San Diego. And the sun only shines for like, 3/4 of the day.

ROFL Oiprocs. I'm about 400 miles north of you, and barely got into the 60's today...BRRRR! Gonna drop into the mid-30's again tonight...I GOTTA scheme a way to move one state west of here... Someplace where IF it gets to 60...people break out heavy parkas...and wear them over shorts and slippahs...

Time to insulate better and replace the older things. I've seen some of these older windows - my apartment has them here and there. (The building is 40 years old at the very least.) Single-pane windows, and from the sound of them, they're not even tempered. New windows, while they're still giant heatsinks to the outside, provide much better insulation than those ancient windows. Proper insulation can pay for itself fairly quickly, too. And there's the added bonus of finally being warm enough.

Check this out. We were throwing around some cards in our dorm room and one went behind the curtain near my desk. The next morning I woke up and found this. :Q

When I was staying in Gunnison, CO this Christmas break, it was pretty constant below 0 and I didn't see a day above like 12 degrees. Coldest morning was -24 not counting windchill. Fun stuff.

It was -12ºF this morning when I got up for work, with windchill in mid -20s. Scraping ice off the inside of your car windows = fun to do when hungover and late for work

When its this cold condensation from breathing, cooking etc always freezes on the inside of the glass. Just set a small fan blowing on low speed aimed at your patio door and it will go away.

And if the ice is thick enough, you might want to put a towel at the base of window to soak up the water.

Well, with that kind of temperatures, I don't blame you for the drinking...anything to get your mind off the damn cold.

WTF? Ice inside your house? Try the heater?

It's 32F in TN right now. Low of 15 tonight.

This is my first year without snow. I just moved to St. Petersburg, FL, and can't say as I miss the cold at all.

Currently 70F, but it was down in the 50s earlier. Damn shame that is...
