Just pulled the last single core PC out of the ones I keep an eye on - my moms A64 3700+ Solid CPU on a solid SLI board, only swapped because I didn't have any DDR to take it up to 2GB for windows 7 and I was able to use a $20 EVGA board and a $30 FS/FT 3800+ x2 and move to AM2/DDR2 which I have in abundance from the the $20 4GB kit days...
After constantly upgrading every six months (1700+ Axp, 2500+ Axp, 3000+ A64 754, 3700+ 754 A64, 3000+ A64 939, 165 A64 939, on and on) I have been stuck on this q6700 for 3 years and I am still having a really hard time justifying spending money on a new processor. The q6600 investment around $200 is about as good as sinking in on a 3000+ A64 S754 and milking that until Core2.
Anyone else "stuck" on a Core 2 Quad?
