That's your problem. It would be better for this place to be more flexible by being able to post images in threads, but also giving each user the option to turn images in threads off is a good idea. Not really concerned about avatars and sigs.. Maybe custom avatars and sigs. should have to be approved by a moderator before it can be used?

I'm just saying. I keep seeing people bitch about how being able to post images and have custom avatars and sigs. will bring the place down and will 'cause lots of annoyances.

Custom avatars should be allowed, even if there has to be restrictions on size, filetype (i.e. no animated GIFs), and content. I think images shouldn't be allowed in threads, because it really will open the floodgates to clutter up the forums. The current system of linking to off-site pics works best, and it allows people the option of deciding whether to view that particular picture or not.

You can disable images in your user control panel. Disabling images will make them a bunch of links like it is now.

I personally cannot wait. vbulletin is, IMHO, superior in many ways. Implemted correctly it is very nice. vbulletin can also be royally screwed up, it just depends on how the admins implement it. The limitations here are both a blessing and a curse. It would be nice to be able to post images and many other things but it will take a lot more moderation to keep things in order as there can be many problems. Pictures in posts, avatars, sigs, etc. can be a problem if everyone just gets to run wild. As others have mentioned if you don't want to see them at all you can turn them off. Personally the biggest thing I am looking forward to is a proper mobile version. The mobile version of this forum flat sucks badly.

In all honesty, from the looks of the VB transition and the closed beta... it is going to be a while. AT and DailyTech have shared user names / passwords and importing them to vB from FUBARTalk seems to be troublesome. ATHQ has not given us (the senior mods) any timeline.
