I'm not sure why so many people hate vB. I don't think it's a bad system at all. Now what I do hate is when people take vB or any other script and leave everything default or just slap a premade unmodified template. You need to at least show SOME effort when implementing it.

Also I find custom sig/avatar adds a way to express yourself. For those that don't like those things there are ways to disable seeing them.

As long as this stuff is moderated (ex: sig height limit, no obscene avatar/sigs etc) it should be fine imo.
