So have you CRT lovers finally bitten the bullet and gone LCD?

I remember reading on here years ago about CRT lovers bitching about response times, color representation, high price and the general suckiness of LCDs.

Now it seems pretty hard to buy a new computer without an LCD and they are pretty damn cheap. Ghosting seems to be a thing of the past and colors are now richer than ever (although true black is still "eh" IMHO).

So have you holdouts finally made the switch?

I tell you what, I have an LCD here (19" WS) and at work (19"), but I still had another PC at work that had my 21" CRT. The few times I went back to it, I was shocked by how great the picture looked (1600x1200x85hz)

I still have my trip 21 CRTs I would love to swap to LCD but the ones that look comparable to the old trinitrons are a bit out of my pricerange for duel 20s which is what I would want to switch over

No, I actually found someone who still stocks 22" philips CRTs, so I'll be grabbing two of them. Can't find any 24" CRTs though.

I finally made the plunge....

But to do so, you really need to spend some cash to get a monitor that looks about as good as a CRT.

I am still hanging on to mine, and it looks like I'll be doing so for at least another year or two. At one point, I was planning to buy an LCD this summer, but the LCD market has become very stagnant during the last year. The NEC 20WMGX2 is still the best all-round LCD available, even though it has been out since last February, and I don't consider it to be nearly good enough for games. The LCD market seems to be heading towards more cheap, low end models and fewer good ones these days.

Still using a Sony 19" Trinitron here and just bought a newer used one for when this 10 year old beast I'm using now dies.

I'll go flat panel when they figure out a way to scale the different resolutions without looking like poo poo .

not yet..

picked up a viewsonic g90fb, compaq p900 and p910 for about $80 all together...

I do however dual screen, and my browsing monitor is a 17in lcd.

Within a year a may switch the lcd to a 20" widescreen lcd and use it on games that it looks good for and keep the crt(s) in its place.

My 19" CRT died, which was a very sad day, and I switched to a Hyundai 19" LCD.

Since then I've gone for a Samsung Syncmaster 20" and Bordeaux 32", will never go back to CRT.

my desk doesnt have enough room for a CRT so a LCD is my only option :Q

I've had a 19inch HP f1905 for a couple years, I like it a lot. It has a 16ms pixel response but I cant see any ghosting at all Before that I had a 15 inch Samsung LCD but that was too small

My old and favorite CRT died about 6 months ago, so I got myself an LCD.

It's an LG Flatron L1932TQ. That's a 19" standard aspect screen that does 4ms response time and 1400:1 contrast.

It's beautiful.

When it comes to great colors & blackness, CRTs still rule.
When it comes to power & desk space conservation, LCDs rule.
I made a switch long ago due to the latter.

I'm running a 2005FPW and an HP P1110 21" CRT (and I have another one of the HP's that I'm not using since I only have one video card ). I actually do all my gaming on the CRT.

I made the switch from a NEC FE1250+ to a ViewSonic VX2025wm about a year ago. I'm happy to have the desk space back, especially now that I have the display on an arm.

Sensitive eyes: Every LCD I play a game on ghosts. But if this CRT Dies, either I have no choice but to go LCD or maybe it will die around the same time OLED's are out

I agree. I bought one after my Sony G420 had nearly reached the end of its lifespan, and it was a pretty big disappointment for games.

I ended up returning it and buying a refurbished Dell P992 (rebranded Sony G410R) and I couldn't be happier. It can't match the 20WMGX2's sharpness for desktop work at high refresh rates, but there's just no contest between the two for gaming.

Hopefully it will only take a few more years for LCDs to catch up, but as you said the market seems to be moving away from high quality S-IPS panel development.
