Good analysis. As a long time Fins fan, I still have flash back from "the one that got away" about Brees to Fins (could have been for a song and a few dollars but Fins management was scared about his shoulder and chose Culpepper instead and the rest was history- Saints went on to be a contender and won one SB while Fins stuck in below average/average for years and years).

Yeah, and don't forget that management passing on Brees is also why the ~2 months-in head coach in Miami at the time, called Nick Saban, quit and went back to college.

College football updates -

Georgia came back and barely won (by 1 point vs. Cincy). Auburn is choking right now (vs. Northwestern).

ND is about to be blow out again by Bama (14-0 and it is 5 minutes left in the first QT..see Bama RB jumped over ND defender), if they do, they need to be removed from any consideration of championship in college football.

Well I mean, if they lose this game then yes, they will be removed from consideration of NC because they can't advance to that game, lol. That's how it works. ...or do you mean forever? ....I can maybe get behind that. Fuck ND. I'm just sick of their cult.

But really, with ND getting blown out twice, and so expectedly, it shows how the field needs to be extended to 6-8 teams (yes, I know this is virtually impossible with scheduling, but I mean...something needs to happen. Maybe top two teams get bye to semifinal matchup games, it only extends the playoff time by one week, which is already kinda long...considering the delay from regular season to bowl season.

And yeah, that is "exam time" and family time in college, but a lot of programs already spend time playing over that break in hundreds of other bowl games. Why not have the first round (teams 3-6) play between Christmas and New Years (or maybe that week before? the dreaded pre-Christmas garbage bowls!), then the semifinals as they are now, New Years or just after, and then that same--isn't it 2 weeks?--gap between semis to NC game. This keeps the prestige and need to get into the top 2--bye week and time off--and also eliminates a lot of that "well what about these other undefeated or 11-1 teams?" that tend to round out the top 8 in college football from season to season on a regular basis now.

Also, no more bullshit where teams that play 6 games are considered for anything, regardless of world events.

That's a bummer. I would of liked to see Cincy win that one just for the FU factor to the selection committee.

Probably (hopefully) won't have to worry about that in the future. Most teams regularly play at least 10 games if not more & i'm sure you know that.

Either Cincy forgot to play the full 4 QTs or ran out of gas but they were great in the first half and until 3rd QT then GA just kept on churning and churning and I thought the FG would not be good but it was.

In other news, ND scored a TD but it was no good because of a penalty then turned over on down. Look like no way it will win this game (31-7 with about 5 minutes left for the game). At least the score was not so horrible like last time (42-14). BTW, ND was 0-6 for the last few big bowl games.

Really surprised by Ohio St. I don't think they should have been in, same with ND. But Ohio St showing up this game. Not seem Clemson dominated like this in a long time.

Georgia coming back, showing SEC strength. Refs really tried to rob Georgia though. National Championship game will be very interesting, pulling for Bama.

so if giants win and redskins loses, the giants will be the 1st team to make playoffs with a 6-10 record.

Getting our assess kicked.

Where was the defense? I thought Clemson has a new Defense Coordinator (see how far and fast LSU fell after a new Def Coord) but I recognize that same guy of Clemson a few years back.

Texas fired Herman and hired Sarkisian as the new head coach.

Remember how much LSU wanted to get Herman back then but settled for O.

League doing their darndest to make sure Washington loses and either the Giants or Cowboys win the NFC East.. That flex is evil since Washington sucks at night.

I know damn well it's not because Washington and Philly are going to provide high quality football.

As much as it pains me, I want my patriots to lose tomorrow. Everything goes right and we draft at the 10 spot.

Fair question ... it may end up being a meaningless game although with Jones starting I have close to zero confidence in NY beating anyone other than themselves!

There are several other game options to "flex" into prime-time that appear to not have that issue and thus would have made more sense IMO.

It seems that Wash being an 8pm game will force the Gints/Boys to play to win. If Wash were early and well ahead, there would be no reason, or more reason to avoid injuries.
