College football updates -
Georgia came back and barely won (by 1 point vs. Cincy). Auburn is choking right now (vs. Northwestern).
ND is about to be blow out again by Bama (14-0 and it is 5 minutes left in the first QT..see Bama RB jumped over ND defender), if they do, they need to be removed from any consideration of championship in college football.
Well I mean, if they lose this game then yes, they will be removed from consideration of NC because they can't advance to that game, lol. That's how it works. ...or do you mean forever? ....I can maybe get behind that. Fuck ND. I'm just sick of their cult.
But really, with ND getting blown out twice, and so expectedly, it shows how the field needs to be extended to 6-8 teams (yes, I know this is virtually impossible with scheduling, but I mean...something needs to happen. Maybe top two teams get bye to semifinal matchup games, it only extends the playoff time by one week, which is already kinda long...considering the delay from regular season to bowl season.
And yeah, that is "exam time" and family time in college, but a lot of programs already spend time playing over that break in hundreds of other bowl games. Why not have the first round (teams 3-6) play between Christmas and New Years (or maybe that week before? the dreaded pre-Christmas garbage bowls!), then the semifinals as they are now, New Years or just after, and then that same--isn't it 2 weeks?--gap between semis to NC game. This keeps the prestige and need to get into the top 2--bye week and time off--and also eliminates a lot of that "well what about these other undefeated or 11-1 teams?" that tend to round out the top 8 in college football from season to season on a regular basis now.
Also, no more bullshit where teams that play 6 games are considered for anything, regardless of world events.
