I would love to see him on THE Football Team, but it would only ever be a terrible trade for Washington, so no.

Though, he honestly might be worth a first round pick. Washington can't do drafting all that well. (outside of Chase Young and Champ Baily....whom they traded of course in a fucking awful trade)
He'd make them a playoff contender, but Washington probably lacks the depth to satisfy him, and he might consider Wentz and Dak better than what most of the public thinks.

With his NTC, I think he'll take a deep look at every team in the league and size them up, along with the strength of the division rivals. The actual price may not be that high, but team's quality will matter a lot.

If opposing rival strength matters, the NFC South might tempt him. He avoids Mahomes face-to-face until the Super Bowl as well if goes goes to the NFC.

So far the only team I've heard he has spoken to is Gang-Green.... and that would be a lateral-move at best. (more like out of the frying pan into the fire!)

The price for Watson is gonna be at least two first round picks, plus a 2nd round pick, and some more, if no players are involved

right. it would be more than a single first round pick, but I don't think WFT has much more beyond a few draft picks that they can trade. Their young players are pretty much all they have, and would need to keep Watson happy unless they replace them effectively which...again, WFT has no history of doing well.

..at least, Chase Young is too expensive for that trade, even a serious playoff QB.

In the end, I'm glad that Watson is forcing the issue because he needs to find a better place.

yeah.. refs only called like 3 penalties all game.
but with 2min left in the 4th quarter, refs threw a VERY LATE holding penalty against Tampa.

it was like Brady got on his cell phone, called the ref and told him to throw the flag.
that was about how long it took the refs to throw that flag.
There is no way that was not at least defensive holding. Doesnt matter how late the call was, it was still a penalty. Holding or PI didnt really matter at that point. Either gave TB 4 more downs and the ability to run out the clock. Did you see the slow motion replay with the receiver's jersey stretched out?

Now you could rightly argue that TB got away with some questionable handsy play earlier, but that call at the end of the game was clearly a penalty.

Yea, I wonder how the trade by whoever gets Watson works out. Everybody says he is a top 5 QB, but is still young and has not taken his team to the super bowl. Also, the price both in dollars and draft picks will be huge. As someone else said, he would be better to go to the NFC, since they dont have any really outstanding young QBs, while the AFC is loaded with Mahomes, Allen, Jackson, maybe even Mayfield, Burrow and Lawrence.

Edit: Oh, and Justin Herbert. Really amazing how unbalanced the QB situation is (as far as young talent goes) between the AFC and NFC.

Texan's appear to be doomed....this is an amazing story

Easy to understand Watson wanting out of that mess

that article was...long and filled with obnoxious self-fellating sports journalist bullshit that can never help to turn a simple story about regular assholes into some sort of epic human tragedy. ....I made it 2 paragraphs. cliffs?

It will require a lot of draft capital to get Watson, but he will actually have a team-friendly cap figure across his remaining contract years (4?). In contrast, the Texans will immediately eat a huge dead cap hit.

The same financial dynamic will be at play if the Eagles or Rams trade their "franchise" QBs, respectively. Not to suggest there's much comparison between Watson and the other 2.

Yes, clearly a penalty.
But as I said, refs only called like 3 penalties all game.

Then at a key point at the game, a very late penalty that helped Brady.
Tampa probably would've still won if they punted the ball.

But with that penalty, it was a guarantee win

Matthew Stafford to the Rams

According to Adam Schefter on twitter, Stafford is going to the Rams. In return, Detroit is getting *two* future first round picks and a third rounder, PLUS Jared Goff.
IMO, a terribly high price for a QB with as little proven success (besides putting up big stats) as Stafford. To me, Stafford has Kirk Cousins written all over him. I am not sure I would even trade Goff straight up for Stafford. Sure he has regressed the last couple of years, but Goff did take his team to a super bowl, something Stafford has not been able to do in what, 10 years or so at Detroit.

Edit: Plus, I think Goff still has upside potential. Stafford (like Cousins when he came to the Vikings) pretty much "is what he is", i.e. a somewhat better than average QB who can put up great stats, but also make a lot of mistakes in critical situations and just doesnt seem to put his team over the top or inspire them to play above their potential.

It's an absolutely horrific trade for LA.

Goff plus TWO first rounders AND a third rounder? It should have been a straight up trade if anything. What's Watson going to get now? 7 first rounders?

I'm going to laugh my ass of when the Rams decline next year. Stafford has never passed the eye test in terms of being an "it" QB.

I think Stafford will be fine for the Rams.

They are a QB away and Stafford has shown more than Goff.

Some music for the old Lion to get him acclimated to his new home.
Detroit got rich suburbs, but L.A got a few more levels of upper class.

Really?? In 3 years Goff has 2 playoff wins and a super bowl appearance. In 12 years, Stafford has 0 playoff wins.

I think Stafford plays a more complete and poised game. Detroit has be a team of downtrodden bad players for years. Goff might be a just play action QB and teams know his tendencies far too well. Being just a play action QB could work in the 80s, but these days, all QBs need that WCO touch and be able to pass without much run support.

Kirk Cousins has mental makeup not fit for football, he’s a worry-wort. I don’t see that from Stafford.

I didn’t follow the Rams or football at all during their run, but the one playoff game I saw, I saw that Gurley was already worse than his backup and that I didn’t remember Goff do anything significant at all.

Belichick figured them out and popped their bubble forever.

Very happy with the haul the Lions received
Yeah like holy crap that is a lot. Maybe Stafford will do well with a change of scenery but I think it's more likely that he won't. But I think it's even more likely the Lions will fuck up their draft picks

Ugh. Now I'm thinking that maybe with all the changes the Lions are making that this time will be different. It's hasn't been before and 3/4 of me is saying "you've been here before" but the dance of hope is eternal to any lions fan. I'll tell you this much - if they ever win the Super Bowl Detroit will Lose. Their. Minds.

detroit will lose their minds when the lions play in their 1st superbowl ever.

(in the 50+ years the Lions has been in the nfl, they never reached to even play in the superbowl.)
