Hi guys;i've installed Win 10 Preview with success, but i had to install Win 7 from an ISO image first, then upgraded to Win 10 Preview, now everything running fine,i never could do a clean install of Win 10 due to problems with drivers for this old Hp PC.it took a long time to do the Win 10 upgrade due failed updates a few times,it took the whole day to install and upgrade, with much persistence and patience, hope after all this work MS won't make me pay for this Win preview, that would make me go back to Win Vista.

I'm confused. It's a preview, not released. And the final OS is already confirmed to be free. What are you referencing?

Confirmed free how. Free OEM .iso version you can install at will on a single PC at a time or a single upgrade key only that is irritating to clean install? This is why I would pay for a subscription - all PCs are always updated no need to fiddle around with versions, although this would need an option to download a current .iso at a point in time with updates in case you needed to clean install a base. Basically a linux rolling release.

Free per the release...I won't quote it again (it's quoted already in this thread, where MS also said no subscriptions), but they were pretty clear. People with 7/8.1 licenses (which includes 8 since 8.1 is free for 8 users) get a free Win10 license. OEM users got 8.1 free in past, so I will assume that will continue to be true. I have no clue how you'll get a key and whether you can use it on an ISO image. Frankly, they should kill OEM licenses already...

Me paying for this win 10? no way , i ain't paying crap,i'll keep running it till it does give problems and till MS starts to ask me money, screw them they will not take my money,i will rollback or go back to Free Linux.i will never pay for any OPS.

This preview build will cease to run in less than a year, you understand that, correct?

Does anyone else have trouble opening notifications? It tell me to click, but nothing happens. Feedback works fine though.

Hi guys Today my Installation of Win 10 preview sudden went mad,on my HP DV-5 the one that i had Win Vista and i installed Win 7 from an ISO to upgrade to Win 10 preview, i have virus all over the place,i received messages from MS that there is virus and malware and i should call MS and gave me a Phone # to call, i did not want to deal with it and i rolled back to win 7 and still same thing,so i just made a clean install of the original and legal key Vista sp2 and made updates and now everything is perfect,on my other Laptop DV-6 with win 7 legal key that i upgraded to Win 10 Preview it's working great still.I don't know if MS created this malfunction or not, maybe the detected that i went from Win Vista all they way to Win 10 preview and i was not allowed! who know?

Hey, I really want to help you but my eyes start to bleed when I try to read your post, Regardless, I'll do the best that I can As best as I can tell from your post, you seem to have resolved your issue in one of the most correct ways (a clean install), The, most, pressing question I have is this: How did you receive the message from Microsoft? Most all anti-malware applications will attempt to resolve any issues without escalation to company representatives, so it's odd to me you got a phone number It's likely the virus warnings and the virus were both a part of the same package - not from Microsoft My best guess is that you installed some form of malware which ended up surviving the rollback to Windows 7 or was simply re-installed, Follow safe browsing guidelines: don't download unknown executables, ensure UAC is on, etc..

This probably isn't dealing exclusively with Windows 10, but it is most likely that the VIRUS ITSELF was giving you a number to call, only pretending to be Microsoft. nothing from Microsoft responds in this manner. Microsoft has consistently used online methods of gaining feedback on preview systems.

And please don't worry about your writing style. I can read it just fine.

Is the start menu limited to an alphabetical list in "all apps"?

I know that in theory its not massively different to win 7 but for some reason its a pain in the arse to use.

I dislike it, because it deals with folders horribly. If your application installs itself in a folder of a different name, you have to search for the folder name, not the app name. And if that isn't bad enough, they renamed the Windows Default Folder names, ensuring almost nothing is easy to find.

Maybe this is Microsoft trying to say "See, you really don't want a start menu, do you!"

They certainly seem to be making that extra effort trying not to give people what they want in a start menu anyway.

It wouldn't be so bad if search wasn't so horrible now.

Sometimes you get those as pop-up messages just from going to the wrong web site. They claim to detect viruses and encourage you to call them so they can pull the same scam as those unsolicited callers. They'll try to get you to give them remote access to your PC. Then they'll point out scary sounding things in the Windows logs that are actually normal. Then they'll tell try to get you to purchase a dubious antivirus product.

Just seeing those messages doesn't mean the computer was compromised. Just yesterday, I tried to help someone set yahoo.com as the home page on a brand new Toshiba Win8 laptop and she typed it wrong, so she was seeing messages like that every time she opened her web browser until we got the homepage setting corrected.

Can someone please tell me if there is a way to disable corner mouse snapping in Windows 10? You know, how when you put your mouse in a corner, it sort of "snaps" and you need to move it a bit faster for it to actually move? It's THE single biggest pain in the ass of Windows 8, particularly on a multi-screen set up. I've actually lost hours of work because of that crap.

Just curious: Why do you put spaces between words and not after punctuation? Was this voice-dictated? OP seems to have a bit of this going on too. What crappy voice dictation puts a comma in place of an apostrophe?
