I agree with a lot of this stuff:

Windows 10: The biggest problems, gripes, and missing features so far

http://www.extremetech.com/computin...t-problems-gripes-and-missing-features-so-far

They do know it's a preview and not a final build which will be different.

I guess some people(not saying you) have no patience or idea what preview build means.

Preview build is like a light or stripped beta ,far from final build with features etc missing,Microsoft have plenty of time to add stuff and fine tune later builds.

So to be fair we have to wait for final build ie RTM version before we can really comment on what is or not there.

I agree. It's nice that they are taking feedback so they should have time still (i hope!) to incorporate a lot of changes before the final. I think that the development teams have been moving faster in the last couple of years so a lot of new stuff could still make it to the final version.
I'm looking forward to seeing how the beta turns out.

Well for starters, I use Firefox. But I can't get adobe flash to work at all. Updated everything. I just get the crashed message! So I can't even watch YouTube at all! Has any one figured out haw to fix this?

I had to delete the adobe flash player to get flash to play in YouTube. Whats up with that?

A couple things:

I like how I can uninstall Windows apps from a right-click on the start menu. It will be neat to see if other apps allow this functionality.

When I checked today there were some updates available, but they are just the Flash and IE updates the other versions received.

At least in the Preview build the Start Menu search doesn't save search data, at least for the user. Half the time I tell it to search for Windows Update it doesn't find anything.

Just type "wuapp" and hit enter.

I really like it. 10.0 will be the one to wait for. So far everything works, I installed it on a new samsung 850 1TB drive. I think windows 10 is gonna be a good long term operating system, windows 8.x being relegated to the vista of this cycle.

steam and games work, virtual box works, adobe light room, itunes,etc.. I tried the built in 3770K gpu and the ATI 7790 and both work fine.

it is a solid preview no crashes etc..

Not bad.

It seems relatively painless to use after learning windows 8. 7 is still more intuitive for XP diehards, but I will be upgrading to 10 upon release.

I had initially installed (three times actually) my download of Win10 and the subsequent build on an Optiplex 745 that has been souped up pretty good. Aside from an issue fixed by windows updates with the latest build released, it has ran impressively well.

I decided I was tired of switching machines just to test 10 so I took the hard drive out of the Optiplex and put it in my main computer, selected that drive as boot in bios and figured I was about to see a horrible blue screen. To my near amazement, Win10 did a partial reload of itself, installed and configured the required driver changes, and booted up just fine after several minutes of transitional changes. The only piece of hardware I was left to configure was a bit of my onboard sound on this computer. I manually initiated a driver update - windows 10 found the correct driver online and installed it.

That impressed me to no end.

Just a thought, but if you installed it 3 different times and the 9860 build update, why didn't you just create a 9860 iso from your first install and use that instead of going through the whole process 3 diff times? This would keep the install footprint down to nearly half.

Of course it has been said just delete Windows.old and the RecoveryImage folders. I just dont like to do things that way incase it wants to break something.

I installed it both ways, actually three ways. 9841 alone then updated to 9860, 9860 clean install, and then an upgrade from Win 7 to 9841 then again to 9860.

You know, just making life interesting.

New build is available.

i'll probably spin that this weekend. I'm running 9860 on my main laptop right now that I need tomorrow.
Yes,yes I know alpha OS.

I've had some flaky wireless performance so far but otherwise i'm loving it and will get the next build installed as soon as I can.

9879 Noticeable changes:

+ Added ability to remove search & task view from taskbar.
-+ Yet another Metro style app 'Insider Hub'.
- New terrible looking icons.

Wireless is still sketchy in PC Settings.
File Explorer systray icon still locked to Home folder.

*OS footprint on clean install has grown by 1GB.

Still classified as Windows 8.1 at:
windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/which-operating-system

I cant see from this point that Win10 is going to be as popular as Win7.

This one seems to have more bugs/issues than did 9860. I really don't like the inability to copy/paste in the start menu. MS continues to push apps on folks that will probably never use them (me). They have at least made provision to log into apps without having to be running in an MS account.

I do wish you would forget about Win7,its time is coming to an end and its far too early to say about Win10,you are still using early beta builds far from final and also too early to judge Win10.

Win7 was fine but nothing major or ground breaking in new features etc from Vista SP2.

I still think Win10 will end up being more popular then previous Windows, its more flexible then Win7 that's for sure.

In PC Settings there is an option for fast or slow when you choose the new builds. This new build was only available under the fast option which means it will be a little bit more unstable.
I don't need to test every little thing MS decides to try out so I leave my option on slow. The slow option is for more stable/tested builds.

A few more bugs anyone?

Choose how fast you'd like to get new preview builds. Choosing to get them faster might mean there are more bugs.

Well, Windows 10 seems to fail the very first test that I tried, which is the most crucial user feature for me. I made a folder on the hard drive, then copied some photos and other files into it. I wanted to drag different files to different corners of the screen, to make certain that I would be able to put files where I want them, and have them show up in the same positions I left them after closing the folder and opening it again later.

So far, I don't seem to be able to even drag the files where I want to - they just rigidly stay put. This should be a very basic part of the operating system - the user being able to configure things the way they like it.

I'm used to using XP, and I want to be able to put all of the photos in a folder over in the upper right hand corner, for example, and always have them be there when I open the folder back up. I don't want the operating system to arbitrarily try to tell me where they should go, or try to arrange them in some way. I want to be able to quickly open up the folder and know that I'll find the last file I was working on over in the lower right hand corner, where I left it.

Doesn't Windows 10 allow for manual file organization/customization?

How do I get rid of OneDrive? Or stop sync? If I remove it from Programs and Features won't it come back with a new build?
