try some Italian moscoto di asti and brachetto d'acqui. Those are excellent wines to start on and they almost always taste good. Even non-wine drinkers agree that its delicious. It is semi-bubbly and sweet. After that, branch into Rieslings (german, new york state, washington state) as, imho, those are the 2nd easiest wines to get into.
1. Swirl glass if non-bubbly wine. Bubbly wine doesn't need swirl
2. Nose the wine
3. Sip a reasonably quantity of wine and aerate within mouth
4. drink/enjoy
Drinking in this fashion brings out the most of the wine in terms of flavors. Half of drinking wine is in the nose, don't miss out.
