I aways used to watch the traffic on the news, or hear people talk about how they had this insane commute to/from work... and laugh.

Now the joke's on me. I never thought I would be apart of it.

It took me an hour and 40 minutes to get home on Friday. 30 miles. That's an average of ~18mph. It should have been ~55+.

It also used 10$ worth of gas, about 4.75 gallons($2.10 here for Plus). That's 6.3MPG. :Q I need a more fuel efficient automobile.

And traffic needs to DIAF.

I drive 25 miles in 30 minutes. I stop 6 times in that distance to work.

I must have stopped eleventy billion times. And I'm one of those people that other people hate that will allow a realitivly big gap between me and the car infront of me. I only use my brakes in traffic if we come to a complete stop. Compression braking FTW!

I'd probably have only gotten 4mpg if I was constantly on and off the gas to get up right behind the person infront of me. Plus it's hard on your clutch.

at least you don't have crazy people yelling incomprehensibly at you or stand next to someone who really smells.

Yeah.

Granted, Friady was a pretty extreme case.. but it still sucked ass.

I drive to work at 4:30am, so there is very little traffic then. Only takes 30 - 35 minutes.

It's the drive home that sucks. Takes anywhere from 45 mins to ... the hour and 40 has been the worst so far.

It seems to get worse and worse as the week progresses, finally comming to a head during the hell that is driving home during rush hour on Friday evening.

Pfffttt, this is exactly why America has embraced the econobox so readily. Nothing at all to do with saving the planet, or natural resources. Maybe a better solution would be to live closer to work, no?

Rush hour in the mornings to university is 45 minutes - 1 hour. If I go at non-rush hour times it is ~20-25 minutes.

Do you take the sunset highway (26)?

Traffic sucked today, yesterday and the previous week!

Dude..... It has nothing to do with saving the planet, or natural resources. It cost me 10$ to get home from work. I am tired of spending 200$ a month on fuel.

Do you think 6MPG is reasonable? I would get better than 6MPG even in one of the landyatchs you so adore, so yes.. I need a more fuel efficient automobile.

Picking up and moving to a different city isn't as easy as you make it sound. Besides, Hillsboro sucks.. I wouldn't ever want to live there again.

Right now my commute is all of 4 blocks one way. I ride my bicycle when the weather isn't too bad. I'm moving this weekend so my commute will increase to 4 miles one way and I'll have to start driving. Not too shabby compared to what alot of people have to do.

It has nothing to do with saving the planet, or gas.

To hear the SUV haters rave, it has EVERYTHING to do with not being green. Don't move, find work closer, or start your own business. Otherwise, DO move, WTF?

Monday morning it took me 3.5 hours to cover 28 miles. Normally it takes me about 50 mins to 1:15. They are moving the location another 20+ miles away now though, ugh.

Yeah.

205n to 84w to 26w. And then the opposite on the way home.

I get off work at 2:50 ... so depending, I'm just starting to hit it. It usually slows down at all the onramps, but it's usually not stop and go for miles like it was on Friday. It sucked.

Monday afternoon, it took me 45 minutes to cover 2 miles. That was after the 3 minute walk to the public transportation and 20 minute ride to my stop. When it takes you 5 minutes to pull out into the middle island and another 5 minutes to merge into traffic, you know it is going to be a rough afternoon. I was livid at that waste of time.

85 miles each way, so 2 hours if traffic is only moderate, 3 hours if worse
