Sadly this is widespread, even liberal MA. Last night I visited some old neighbors whom I hadn't seen in awhile. The topic of Obama came up and they insisted that because his father was a Muslim he was a Muslim and even though they thought McCain would be as bad as Bush whom they despised, they'd vote for him over Obama because they just couldn't trust a Muslim. Hell they even said they thought Obama might be a Sleeper, my head about exploded when I heard that. I decided that I was through discussing politics with them at that point.

Because it has NOTHING to do with it. A definition is a definition.
racism isn't simply defined by a dictionary. there is a difference between whites preferring white candidates and blacks preferring black candidates based on race.
Yeah, there is a difference, it's black and white.

yeah. you have no idea what you're talking about and you never will

I most certainly do, but of course that doesn't fit in your victim mentality.

I like how the Obama folks love to cry racism and accuse people of being bigoted if they don't support Obama. In West Virigina, Obama lost in the Southern part of the state by 4-1. Yet, people in McDowell County, which overwhelmingly rejected Obama, renominated an African-American as their Democratic nominee for the state House. Since there is no Republican opponent, he (Clif Moore) will be reelected. Maybe, it's not Obama's skin color that people rejected, perhaps, it's his message.

Exit polls > results from one county.

Something tells me Clif Moore doesn't have Hussein as a middle name and isn't thought to be a Muslim by the ignorant.

Always look for flaws in the voters, because God knows the Messiah could not be flawed.

Of course some have valid reasons for not liking Obama. At the same time, some have ridiculous reasons, including but not limited to:
-believing a black man should never be president of the USA
-believing Obama is a Muslim
-believing he is related to either Saddam Hussein or Osama

I think that when it comes down to election day when people are alone in the anonymous voting booths, the same fear that causes some white folks to clutch at their belongings or lock their car door or move to the other side of the street when they spot a black man coming will compel them to vote against Obama. Hispanics are already distrustful of black people and they represent a growing number of voters, so there's that too..

I wish it weren't so, and I would be glad to be proven wrong, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Well stop mugging white people.

Obviously the reponses have been cheery picked, but the fact they found so many in such a short amount of time atests to the fact there is a large percentage of people like this at least in the area they polled.

Even taking into account say they found all those people in a week ect, the things mentioned here are pretty sincere emotions from these people, people old enough you would think to know better (most post Civil rights movement).

So the question is, how prevalent is race in America still? Will is cost Obama the november election?

BTW, I can go out and film 1,000 people and cherry pick 10 of them to promote whatever view I have.
Now if they had one continuous cut and every person said the same thing, then you'd have a point.

there's a lot of variables. given a choice between Obama & McCain,
i think Obama will win.

i might vote for Obama. i might also vote for Cynthia McKinney.
