Mine came in TWO boxes. Box 1 was the E510 and box 2 was the 2005FPW LCD.

This sooo weird.. my 19 inch lcd came in the same box as my PC... so what could be in that other box?? lol I hope another 2405 fwp!

I'd rather have the 20" LCD for $90 more than a slightly faster processor and more HD space.

Dell stopped including XP install disks by default a long time ago; apparently now it's a ~$15 (OTOH) option. :/

Depends. Which option did you choose?
  • PC Restore recovery system by Symantec [Included in Price] Dell Recommended
  • Genuine Windows® XP Media Center 2005 Edition re-installation CD [add $10]
  • Genuine Windows® XP Professional re-installation CD [add $10]

I forgot to add that to my order, didn't see it. So now I get to call or email Dell, have them charge me $10 and wait for a week to receive it

Didn't Dell at one time offer a method to create recovery discs from the machine itself?

Obviously, there are other methods to create these type of discs as well, but the method I am remembering (or misremembering, perhaps) was designed for user-friendliness.

I'm a n00b and lazy, I'll just wait for Dell to send it to me

Wonderful.

Diet Mountain Dew just nearly shot through one of my nostrils.

Sadly only a handful of AT'ers understand the correlation of Staples + CostCo Pizza + special European cheese.

ya no more cds. instead they eat up 10 Gig of your hard drive space to store a copy of xp on your disk for restore purposes. make sure when you reinstall you nuke all the partitions and free up that precious space!
