----------------------------------
Today I weighed in at 239.6 lbs.
In June 2010, I was 344 lbs.
So I'm down over 100 lbs (missed the hundred mark, I only weigh occasionally).
Was a size 54 - just bought me a couple of pair of 40 jeans. . .
Goal is 200 by August.
Eventually want to be around 180lbs.
So, that is all the bragging you'll see from me until oooo at least August.
----------
How'd I pull it off:
Started in June 2010 by buying me a bike. I got a FUJI Crosstown at a LBS - and literally rode the wheels off the poor bike. Still have it - and it barely still lives.
Sold my car. Commute on bike or walk. I'm about to lay out a grand on a new bike - a Surly Pacer.
Joined a gym the next month. Do yoga three times week - spin class if it is too cold to ride occasionally. 20-30 minutes of cardio alot of days. Rowing, step aerobics classes occasionally, body combat recently. Basically I am always doing something different. Whatever floats my boat that week. The one thing that has me always coming back is yoga though. I've made so much progress with my body in there. When I first started I could barely hold any poses. Now, I can do 'almost' everything the skinny folks can do.
I try to do something every day, even if it is 10 minutes of butt kickers, 30 burpees, or just a 20 minute yoga session. I can work that in on even the busiest days. Literally 6 months ago, I could not do one pushup. I could not do one abdominal crunch on the ab machine. Now I'm doing 20-30 correct pushups (slow and in good form) and I can do 30 reps with 50-70 lbs on the abmachine.
Have done most everything the "Fat2Fit podcast" has recommended - recently getting started in the weight room. (This podcast rocks - no BS or gimmicks).
I adjusted my eating the BMR of a 200lb man in the theory that if I eat like a 200lb man, then I will eventually be a 200lb man. I've never really starved myself at all. I have not avoided any food groups - and have ate my share of pizza on the way down for instance. I don't deny myself anything - just portion control. Bought a diet scale. Log everything I put in my mouth. Stopped eating so much fast food or made radically different choices in the restaurants. Now I have started eating much healthier - upped my protein for my weight training, started eating my veggies, lots of beans, greek yogurt, nuts, etc.
Stopped drinking any calories except for a few quality pilsners on weekends and a little half and half in my morning coffee. (I use to drink sweet tea like a madman).
When I started, I could not sleep without a cpap machine - literally. My blood pressure was through the roof 160-110 one time for instance. My resting heart rate when I began was like 94.
Have not needed the cpap in 4 months. My pressure was 110/64 last checkup a month ago. My resting heart rate is low 50's now.
