so I finally heard that Outkast song yesterday

"Hey Ya" or whatever it's called... Everyone told me it was the catchiest song they'd ever heard and that it woul be stuck in my head for days. Now, I don't have anything against rap or hip hop or any of that, but I don't hear the catchiness. I didn't even feel the slightest urge to tap my foot or anything, and five seconds after it ended, I couldn't tell you a single lyrics, phrase or anything from it. I don't get why it's so popular...???

Exactly. FWIW, I think Outkast are brilliant, and one of the world's truly unique bands. They are like a modern Sly and Family Stone, or Parliament, and truly deserve their success.

"Hey ya" has catchy/memorable lines in it and it's just a goofy feel-good song, although it's been played to death at this point.

they'e definitely an alternative "rap" if you will... I like some of their stuffr, but not all..
