I've got one of those 10X10 steel sheds with a plywood floor I made for it, I've been noticing carpenter ants in it lately so I sprayed it with "Max" insecticide. Today I go to get my genny out and run it to trim some bushes and those dammed ants were back, when I finished I started the genny and my lawnmower and shut the doors for 15 minutes, I'm hoping the massive blast of carbon monoxide and other crap small engines spew out will drive those bastards out, thoughts? am I a smart dude or the village idiot..

did you spray insecticide manually or set off an insecticide fogger?

I'm going to go with village idiot on this one, given the choices.

I have had to deal with carpenter ants at my house. Load up with several different types of ant traps and clear as much dead wood away from your house as you can. Worked really well for me.

Can't do that! it's a FEMA shed, I got a check from FEMA for $200 after the shed that was there got picked up and wrapped around a giant pine tree in my backyard like a wrecked Cessna in '04, the year of "the 'cane". This metal shed came in a box with a bag of 550 screws, it took me 2 full days to construct it, and that's with a power-phillips screwdriver!. It has ventilation slots up where the sides meet with the roof, think I'm gonna temporally seal those with duct-tape and repeat the gassing, a 7 HP and a 10HP engine really don't use much gas not under load but being as small engines lack any smog equipment they should spew out crap-o-plenty. I've got some 2-stroke oil laying around, maybe I'll add a bit for more smog!, wish I still could get one of these baby's, we had 'em in the '60's and they worked great!, all you had to do was install a fitting at the exhaust outlet and attach a small tank on the mid-bar, it was gravity-fed, once the mower was hot just add some DDT or insecticide of choice to some #2 kerosene and let the "death-shroud" begin!!EPA probably stopped their usage though..
