Do the crime, do the time. Don't like it, fvck off.

Can you find me the exact crime he committed.

Being drunk != possession

Being in possession = possession

you are all full of stupid today

if you are underage and over whatever limit they set for people under the age of 21, you get hit with possession no mater what, because to be over the limit you would have had to be possessing it at some point in the recent past

just because you didnt have any physicially on you isnt gonna get you out of it

its the law, learn to live with it

Thats not the law in CT. There are laws for possessing, buying, selling, transfering, serving even public intoxication. There is no law that says you can't be drunk in private.

If thats really the law in whatever state he is in that is entirely rediculous. Parents should be allowed to let their children have alcohol in their home whenever they determine it appropriate.

Now I actually agree with that. In fact, I want the government to be entirely out of this type of thing. It's a family decision, not a government one. But until that happens you have to 100% accept whatever punishments you get for your actions.

You're underage, it won't go on your permanent record, so who cares?

*raises hand*

Never had a beer, never been drunk, and I've never been to a party where people were drunk.

"Control, control! You must have control!"

Same here. Did not have a drink once until after I turned 21.
you who spoke up are the exceptions.

*nod* I tasted alcohol twice before I was 21. Once was just a very tiny sip, and the other was at home (and not at a party).

Seriously. Were you two locked in a basement your entire lives?

Even the most socially inept, dungeon dwelling outcasts have been to a party or have had drinks. At the opposite spectrum even the most straight laced, model citizen children have been to at least one party or had a drink.

Did you grow up in a village in an african jungle? Mormon family?

No. I have not ever been to a "party" per se, because they don't interest me. I have no desire to be around drunks and other people while they are acting crazily or getting high. I have had one drink at home, and I hated it. No idea why people like Beer, or wine for that matter.

I'm not socially inept, I have plenty of friends, but we are the type of guys who go see a movie, and after the movie, discuss the biopolitical nature of events in the movie.

Man, my babysitter gave me beer in small quantities when I was 3-4 years old! Meister Brau, that was my brand. No wonder I grew up to be an alcoholic.

None of the above.

I have better things to do with my time than go to parties with worthless people and drink alcohol. I drink every now and then now, but only one beer a month or so.

There were 5 of us in the car in total. A long line of cars were leaving the party and we were driving fine but we ended up being the ones that got pulled over. The cops said we had a tail light out. At the time we didn't know but we just said ok. Long story short, the driver is given sobriety tests, passes 3 out of 4 but then we're all given breathalyzer tests. The driver blew a .021 (we would've been off if he had blown below .020..) and the rest of us blew .022, .08, .07, and a .151 for me. Then we're all cuffed, taken to jail, and then our parents came and picked us up.

Now I don't want to hear about how what I did was bad, or about how I had what was coming to me. I'm just wondering if it's possible to get our M.I.P's reversed because as it turns out the cops lied about the tail light. It's not out (nor was it).

Also, are all 5 of us going to have to get lawyers, or if just one or two of us do and we get off on the tail light thing, will we all get off?

Did the breathalyzer lie about the legal intoxication? if not, face up and learn your lesson boy.

Most of us on this forum are geeks and I would venture to guess most of us would find your statement to come off as somewhat elitest. How seriously can you take yourself and life before you can just back off? The biopolitical nature of events in a movie? Did you get into a 6 hour discussion about possible global warming in middle earth after the one ring was thrown into the lava?

The Beatles wrote a song for you, it's called "I am the Walrus". Listen to it, it's deeeeeep man.

You've never been to a party or had a drink, how would you know what it's all about? Not all parties are frathouse blowouts like you've seen on tv. Mabey you're the guy who goes to the movies with tenshodo13 then goes home and talks about how mean thoes jocks were, over a hot cup of cocoa?

I'm a busy man myself and I'm past my hard partying days, but I couldn't imagine anyone not going to a single party in their entire lives (however short yours may be). You guys must simply be better than me.

There are lots of parties, not all involve alcohol or drugs. I went to tons of parties in high school. No one every drank or did drugs at them though. Those were the ignorant jock parties, or waster parties, or whatever derogatory term we applied to them that week.

Yeah, we're all Geeks. And yes, I will insult myself and say that my friends and I are probably elitist in ways of useless intelligence, and psychoanalytical bullcrap. We take pride in knowing things that most highschool students don't really think about. I take life seriously to the point where I study when I need to, play games when I feel like it, and just hang out with friends discussing random stuff. We never had a need to drink. First of all, we would all get shot if we did. 90% of us are Asian. Secondly of all, we don't have the disposable income to buy beer, third, we don't have the time, and fourth, we find intelligent discussion coupled with sexist/racist/anti semetic jokes much more fullfilling than getting shitfaced and not remembering what happened last night.

We aren't very big on LOTR, but also, considering the amount of smoke thrown into the atmosphere, I would say the temperature on Middle Earth went down half a degree.

Well you're Asian, so you have a greater chance of having difficulty metabolizing alcohol. So we understand why you are anti-alcohol.

You know it's possible to have just a drink or two, be social, have fun and meet girls at a party. Heck, I don't even drink and I've been too plenty of parties/bars and had fun.

if you lawyer can prove that the stop was not justified (why you said that the light wasn't actually out) you could possibly prove that it was an illegal search. *shrug* good luck

Most of the things I've been to are just a handful of people sitting around talking. Some people have a few drinks and relax. Nobody (except maybe one idiot) gets drunk at all.

Point is the officer has proof he has alcohol in his bloodstream. This is circumstantial evidence and Not proof of possession. The law is for possession anyways not conspiracy to have possession or having at one point had possession.

I want to see how this law is written.

I've known at least one person who got cited for MIP as "Minor in Possession by virtue of consumption". In other words, he was in possession of it because it was currently in his bloodstream. What sucked for him is that it was just hours before his 21st birthday. How unfair was that? He was caught pissing behind a bar, maybe the punishment of "indecent exposure" or "public urination" or whatever was a worse fine than MIP and they took pity on him? Or maybe MIP was worse and he was being an asshole to them? I don't know.

I got my MIP (in michigan) when walking down the street. 2 weeks later, they changed the law saying you can refuse the breathalizer but pay a small fine.

You know it's possible to have just a drink or two, be social, have fun and meet girls at a party. Heck, I don't even drink and I've been too plenty of parties/bars and had fun.

I'm guessing you and all of your friends are single too.

I dont drink. I've been to parties. I have a girlfriend. One of my friends is engaged. Two of my friends are married. Four of my friends have girlfriends. Two of my friends are single.

Your guesses are nothing more than your stupidity showing.

And mosh, you usually make more sense then that. I don't think I've ever seen a more unreasonable, and downright retarded post from you. Each person has a choice if he/she wants to drink. If we choose not to, that's our decision. Saying that the only reason he wouldn't drink is because he has a higher chance of not being able to metabolize alcohol simply because he's Asian is ridiculous.

While I disagree often with you, I still respect you for your general sensibility. Don't be such a worthless poster next time, mmkay? ^_^

I think some people (usually the ones that consider themselves "intellectuals") think that the only purpose to drinking alcohol is to get shit-faced. I usually only have a couple beers and relax... or maybe make some sort of mixed drink to null the pain /emo!

Used to think like you, except without being so geeky and without all the ridiculous assumptions. But I've grown up now and realized my thinking was flawed, as some of you will hopefully come to learn. Drinking in moderation is fine, it's normal, it's part of being a functional social being in this day and age. And theres something to be said for being too much of a control freak, you gotta loosen your grip someday.
