So i got some free samples of The Art of Shaving

Pre-shave oil, shaving cream, & aftershave....

HOLY CRAP!!! NICE STUFF! I was very impressed with how the shave felt, very smooth, much smoother than anything else i tried....

So i went online to buy some, JEBUS, that crap is EXPENSIVE. The regular kit, comes with the three i mentioned above sells for $100, not to mention if you want a nice shaver/brush combo, they go from $500-$3500+

Its insane.

alright, i think i hereby withdraw my previous statement about art of shaving....

I woke up this morning, with 12-13 ingrown hairs on the bottom of my chin, it looks like a freaking mini pimple factory, nasty and painful as hell. Never had that happen before, only thing diff was the Art of Shaving... :beer:

You can always sue 'em for false advertisement, 'cause they guarantee optimal shaving results while relieving and preventing ingrown hairs...

Ingrowns are usually caused by too much pressure on the razor (particularly a multi-blade), not enough beard prep (lots and lots of water!!), or too much oil (I never use the stuff myself). And a shaving brush is pretty much essential if you're going to use AOS or other traditional products. By coincidence I'm working on an "Intro to Wetshaving" video aimed at newbies. The draft is on YouTube (actually, two videos due to YouTube's restrictions):

Bear in mind that this is a "proof of concept" video and is a work-in-progress (I know the narration needs tightening and brightening, and some of the lighting is off, for example) but it might help you some.

Oh, by the way, there are a few products that about equal to the quality of AOS for a lot less money. If you have a natural foods store in your area, look for Kiss My Face "moisture shave." Its just fair-to-middlin' by itself but hit it with a shaving brush and its outstanding. Its only $8/tube. If you have a Target store nearby, check their "Spa" or "Bath and Body" area for Proraso. Its $12/tube.
