My roommate and I were discussing this about a week ago. We both decided to chill in town for a bit before xmas. We go to a big college town. Honestly, it would be easy pickings. Most of the apartments and almost all of the houses are horriblly undersecured. Hell yes, you did the right thing. Too many people are too lazy or timid to call the cops/help a guy getting mugged/what-have-you.

The Good Samaritan parable is still all too true today - too many people will just walk by and ignore a problem because it's "not theirs". How would you like it if you were the one being assaulted?
