Let me get everything out of the way : I'm 18 years old and in my last year of High school. I'm also in a French Catholic school(though, it's irrelevant).
Earlier today, during the lunch period, a few friends and I were throwing snowballs around because we were bored. We were simply tossing them at other people; who were, in turn, laughing and throwing them back. By the end everyone walked away in perfect condition.
Later, I get called to the office for throwing snowballs. Apparently snowballs are now considered "weapons," as my VP put it. I don't really understand the reasoning to make this action punishable. Throwing snow is no more dangerous than playing sports, yet those are perfectly allowed.
The end resulted in me getting a 1-day suspension for what I did. I don't really mind because it just gives me a long week-end. I just think it's rediculous that this kind of thing can be punishble.
EDIT : Figure I should mention that I've never been suspended before and my record, until now, was perfectly clean.
Cliffs :
1. Threw snow in a non-malicious way
2. Got suspended for 1 day
3. ??
4. Profit! (Long week-end)

Feel free to flame me if you want, doesn't really bother me.

Let that be a lesson to you! It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye.
He really should have suspended you for a week. That's assault you know! You can't be too careful after Columbine.
You should spend more time studying and less time attacking your classmates...maybe then you'd know how to spell ridiculous.
God forbid someone makes a typo. I thought this was the Internet; I must be wrong.
Typo? The E key is nowhere near the I key...you don't even use the same hand to type those two letters. Face it, you don't know how to spell do you?

Didn't mean typo in that sense. It wasn't a "slip of the finger," more like a mental lapse. I know perfectly well how to spell ridiculous yet I hadn't given it a thought and made an error. Please forgive me, oh perfect one.

What do the parents say about this?

Look at it as a free day off from school.
As for your unblemished "record", I'm not sure what record you're referring to. The one kept by the high school? No one will ever know (or care) once you leave that school. It's okay.

Damn, I sure hope you're right. I just applied to college and one of them asked me if I'd ever gotten in serious trouble at any school I attended. I was afraid if I didn't tell them they'd just look it up and think me a liar... so I told them about how I got suspended for a week for drinking whiskey in the middle of class. Wait, in that case it doesn't matter if you're right because I already told them. Dammit.
