<< I gotta ask WTF when people get excited about an Xbox. I gotta assume people here gotta computer so why not go with a decent vid card and get as good or better graphics without shelling out for a seperate machine. I just got NFL 2001 for the puter and all I'm running is a GTS and a Tbird900 and it rival any game console I've seen! >>
Xbox has better graphics than any PC right now, so that's one reason to be excited about it. People point out how similar it is to a computer (as if that's a bad thing), but it's got a kick-ass next generation nVidia graphics chip and a bunch of other features for a measly $300--it's still a good deal even if you already have a PC. The Gamecube is a really good value, as well. The PS2 has comparatively crappy graphics, but it's got a lot of good games, so there's lots of reasons to still own a game console. I'm sticking with my computer, but I'd be happy if I found an Xbox under my tree, too. >>
Bwahahahaa... have you actually looked at an X-Box game?
Granted, the games look VERY good. But they are not above PC levels yet. The Dreamcast has games that rival what the current batch of X-Box games look like. They only lack the minor details that the X-Box can crank out which makes it shine.
As for the PS2 having crappy graphics.. go look at Gran Turismo 3. Then tell me another racing game that looks that good and runs that smooth. Project Gotham? Nope, I played that for 2 hours tonite at a friends place and even it cannot rival GT3. >>
You also have to consider the fact that many of the current Xbox titles are ports of PS2 games. Wait until next gen games come out.
And as far as PS2 having "crappy graphics," it really depends on the game. Have you played the new Bond game on PS2? Looks really poor.
