I have one wavebird and one wired controller.... guess I need another wavebird

is there an svid cable? Will it make a difference?

Must play Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2. Not doing so would mean that you've passed on quite possibly the best games ever released on a console, ever. I highly recommend playing in a dark room with a surround sound system to take it over the top. You WILL be immersed in the game in no time.

Supersmash Bros. Melee, Metroid Prime, and the other one I believe is called Eternal Darkness.

There are S-video connectors available, but you'll have to buy another cable to get one. Whether it makes a difference or not I don't know - I bought one right away because the composite connectors on my old TV were messed up. Never got the chance to compare.

As for games: MarioKart has already been suggested. Zelda and Metroid are probably good choices too. If you ever played Mario64 (and liked it, of course), you'll like Mario Sunshine, as well. My brother told me that I should pick up Paper Mario today, but I haven't actually had a chance to play it so I can't say anything about it either way.

Still plays MK64 on his Xbox. My boss said he could beat me at Mario Kart a few weeks ago, so I broke out the Xbox and the SNES original (emulator). When he asked me, "What's this $hit?" I knew he was talking about that second rate version on N64. He beat me a few times, but I'm getting the hang of it again. I knew, beyond the shadow of a doubt that he couldn't take me on the SNES Mario Kart. He still hasn't even tried...

First get yourself a copy of Eternal Darkness, It is dirt cheap and one of the greatest games I have ever played. Then get yourself Metroid Prime 1 which is also dirt cheap and it is also one of the best games I have ever played. Also, Legend Of Zelda Windwaker was pretty sweet but get the others first.

Metroid Prime 1 and 2 - must buy both to enjoy the story
Eternal Darkness - unique gaming experience with the sanity effects
The Legend of Zelda The WindWaker - great story line
FZero GX - intensely fast racing game
Ikaruga - one if not the hardest game available
Pikmin 2 - original Pikmin is you can get it for a great price
Resident Evil series - you don't need to buy all of them if you're not a hardcore RE fan, then just buy Resident Evil 4 when it comes out in a little over 2 weeks
Star Wars Rebel Strike - no need to buy Rogue Leader since this is included as 2 player co-op in Rebel Strike

There is a huge difference between composite and S-Video. Much sharper image with S-Video vs composite

If you have a progressive scan capable TV, you should get the component cables instead directly from Nintendo. Note, you most likely won't have the digitial video output port on you GC. So if you decide to get the component cables, talk to the Nintendo tech support to arrange to swap your GC with a refurb GC with full warranty with the digital video output port.

When did they quit putting the digital port on gamecubes? Mine has one, but I've had it for at least a year, probably closer to two.
