Hate to say it, but Mill was absolutely right about the OP leaving a sub-standard tip at this level of restaurant.
If you need to be told this or you want to argue this, you are simply showing your ignorance. It's not about your mathematical calculations, Mr. Applebee's Guy, it's about what people who drop $500 on a meal customarily tip, which begins at 20-25% and goes up, sometime way up, from there.
If you don't know this or can't afford it, don't go in the damn door.
It's also why you don't go up to her table and pester Miss Alba for an autograph in such a place. They don't take kindly to rubes.
I can't believe I'm quoting him, but it's exactly like Mill said, "Act like you've been there before."
All that said, nice meal and scenery, OP! Life is good, no?

You aren't helping the argument by not understanding it. The waiter is not getting the full $66.
In a place like this a cut almost always goes to the Maitre'D, a part to the bus staff, etc.
They do make a decent amount but they also have to deal with a higher level of stress.
Esp. the 'DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM' crowd coming in on a bus with the tour group.
Ooooooo, high stress. Carting food around, whup dee f'n dooo. Excuse me if Im not impressed.
Yeah, your right, they should just work for free. What was I thinking.

You still tip like a cheap asshole even after that last thread. 15% is simply not acceptable -- especially for a restaurant like that. Act like you've been there before you stingy fvck.</blockquote>
I know this is hard to grasp, but 15% of $400+ is much more more than 15% of your Outback Steakhouse tab.
15% of $400 is "not acceptible"? You must be a waiter's dream. Only in America!

WTH? 15% tip isn't enough?</blockquote>
Yeah, everyone on ATOT usually tips twice the cost of their meal, didn't you know?</blockquote>
If you can't afford to tip well, you can't afford to eat there.
OP said it was amazing service and goes on to tip 16%. There's something wrong about that.

Please 15% is not a fine tip for a place like wolf gangs. If you can't afford to go up to 20% when you get great service then don't go, because you should be expecting to get 20% service from a place like that.
I'm a college kid and whenever my gf and I get a very expensive meal (for us thats like ~100 bucks for the two of us), I'm not tipping 15%. 20 dollars on a 100 dollar bill to show that they did well is worth it to me rather
than saving 5 bucks.
And to whoever said that their friends make 100+k and go to outback?! where do they live? Middle of time square so they can't afford anything else on that salary?
I'm not rich, my family isn't by any means but for my whole life its been 15% base, 18% good and 20% great and most people I know follow the same system.

What the hell man, $66 tip? Expensive dinner, cheap tip......how about eating cheaper next time and using the money to take care of the waitress.

Tipping 15% is plenty. It's not like the guy was doing anything amazing, he was taking orders and carrying food, same as any restaurant.
