Okay, I'm not trying to have a flamefest here, if it turns into that, I'm going to ask the mods to delete the thread.
I have a friend who thinks that Intel products are the absolute be-all end-all of computer processors. He thinks AMD products are in a word, crap. I've owned Athlon's that run ~2.4 GHz with crap ram that cost me $77, but that's never good enough for this guy. His mentality of "Intel must be better because they sell more processors than AMD" is driving me up the wall. This isn't a case of your ignorant computer user either, this guy knows a fair amount about them (except for incessantly calling his tower by the name of "hard drive").
He says "why would I buy an A64 when it supports technology that isn't available right now" argument just makes me stare blindly at him, dumbfounded. THIS IS SO DUMB!!!!1!!! One of his arguments is "Intel has the Itanium processor." HELLO, isn't Itanium pretty much a high-end server RISC processor?
Cliffs notes:
1. Friend thinks Intel>AMD
2. He says A64 uses technology that isn't practical today (even though he agrees it might be practical in a year or so).
3. He calls his tower his "hard drive"
4. Why does Itanium make Intel>AMD for us general computer users!!!
/end rant
