The only problem with that is you could be reported for a hit and run then if the person got your license number since for the most part you are at fault for hitting people on a bike no matter what.

The person was riding on the sidewalk? In many jurisdictions, this is unlawful activity especially if the person is 18 y/o. If he was injured due to him illegally and operating a bicycle on the sidewalk and especially in an unsafe manner (darting out in front of a car), I can't see how you can be at fault.
