Edit: And here is a couple shots from SC: DA. These are not the best shots (not to mention JPEG artifacts) but just to show the FPS. @1920x1200, FPS is always above 60, staying around 70~90 most of the time.

Hi,
Can anyone point me to a good overclocking guide for GPU's. I have a powercolor 2900 pro and want to see how well I can overclock it. I tried the overdrive function that comes with the ccc but it just crashed the system after about 3 hours and when I click use the last good configuration it crashed again.

After disabling my test systems onboard audio and using my E6850 at stock and my 2900Pro at stock I just squeezed past 10000 in 3dmark06. Tomorrow I will incorporate all into my main system and start the overclocking. Should get some great results!

keep going back there. I've been checking once every day or two, hoping against hope that the price will magically go down. It has been steady at 279.99 + 7 or so for shipping for a couple weeks. They get some then go OOS in a day or two, then they get some more, repeat...

How do I get 3Dmark to work with the HD 2900XT?
Go to the c:\windows\system32\futuremark\msc directory and rename or delete the file "direcpll.dll" if you install another 3Dmark like 03 or 05 you will have to do this again.

This worked, thanks for the info. Only got 8895. No OC and card at default settings. Dunno if this is average or not as the online stat said said I had the lowest score so far for this card.

An Official Hotfix also just showed up for 3DMark and PCMark. It actually updates 3 files....

don't worry. it was always intended as a limited edition. It now looks like ati just underclocked a bunch of their 2900xt cards to unload excess inventory in advance of rv670. If it dies then you would probably be offered a 2950/3000 pro or xt card, either of which should paste the 2900 pro in a year or two as newer games come out, so you'll be good either way.
