Minutes later, I read articles claiming that ATI cards, even the high end ones, dont run Call Of Duty for crap. Is ATI bound to fix this?

Where did you read this? I got CoD yesterday and it plays great on my 9800 "pro" (flashed non-pro) with all eye candy on @ 1152x864. I've only played about 30 minutes so far and haven't tried any AA/AF yet but to be honest it looks great without it.

Anyway, I'm guessing it will play great on a 9600Pro/9700Pro as well.

I'll have to look it up and post some links...

Some people who have 9800 Pros were claiming that they had horrible frame rates during the Stalingrad campaign. I am currently using a Geforce 3, and have had no problems running the game.

Hey what's up Robor? Where did you pick up COD? I was hoping it would be listed on sale in the Sunday ads but no such luck thus far. I plan on picking it up prior to my upcoming LAN party 8 NOV 03. I hear the multiplayer is a whoot? This is one is definitely in the running for game of the year provided cough cough HL2 doesn't show up for the Holidays. I hear valve has been burning the midnight oil since their security incident.

I got my CoD from Babbages. Yeah, it was $49.99 and normally I wouldn't have paid full retail but I've had a $32 credit burning a hole in my pocket so it only cost me $20-something. I was going to spend it on HL2 or Doom3 or UT2k4 but since they're all scheduled for a 2004 release I figured what the heck. I've heard it's short so I put it on the max (Veteran) difficulty and started last night. I played for around 30 minutes and I love it so far. Good graphics, excellent sounds, very exciting and immersing, and so far either it's not easy or I just suck. I'm sure I'll play a little more tonight. Hoping one of my buds will grab a copy so I can try out the multiplayer with a friend.

I've got a 9800 non-pro flashed to a pro. I run it at either default speeds or bump it up to 398 core & 348 mem. I was playing at default speeds last night with no problems at all (other than the virtual CDROM from Nero/Alcohol 120% messing up the safedisc copy protection thing).

I haven't played MoH in a while but from what I remember of it and what I played last night CoD seems more "realistic" than MoH. By that I mean it feels like you're really part of the unit. And the sounds are just amazing. I was using my headphones so I could really crank it up. Plus, from what I understand there's no "sniper town" map like in MoH. I quit playing MoH because of that map. Stupid AI characters kept getting sniped. :disgust: :|

I played and beat Call of Duty using a stock 9500 Pro and the experience was pretty good. Catalyst 3.9
Did notice slowdowns at some points... especially walking through grass or something...
just ordered a 9700 Pro.. we'll see if there's any changes...

FiringSquad.com just did an article about CoD. They benched it at a plethora of ATI cards, and they are currently working on benching it on Nvidia cards.

I run CoD at 1280x1024 on my 9200 oc'd to 270/220 with everything on highest detail but no AA/AF and it runs perfectly fine. Little more intense game than BF1942

I have a radeon 9800 non pro and in call of duty with 4XAA and 8XAf the game was choppy as hell, but in their article the card ran at 64.9fps (1290X1024X32)!!! I have omega catalyst 3.7 drivers and accoriding to the all the benches i've look at, there isn't a big difference between the 3.7s and the 3.9s. how can i be getting such low performance????
