I'm excited, I just hope my PSU is up to the task of feeding this bad boy. I've been told its plenty, but I know this card in particular draws more wattage with its out-of-the-box OC. In any case I'm not to worried I just wanted to share my excitement with you guys! I'm hoping this card lasts me a long time..relatively speaking in the hardware world of course.

I was between this card and the EVGA ACX FTW but ended up going for the Gigabyte because its guaranteed B1 revision of the GK110, has a backplate, and is faster out of the box. Should I use EVGA Precision to tweak it or the Gigabyte software?

Definitely Evga Precision. Gives you more control over the card, fan speed/curves, profiles, etc.

because its guaranteed B1 revision
is that what they mean when they label them REV2.0

http://videocardz.com/47420/nvidia-updates-geforce-gtx-780-ghz-edition

"NVIDIA has not only been working on a new flagship – GeForce GTX 780 Ti, but also on a new GTX 780 GHz Edition, which is cheaper (at launch) and faster than current model.

The so called GTX 780 GHz (Edition) is based on B1 revision of GK110-300 GPU. This is more efficient variant of A1 stepping, clocked at 1006/1046 MHz. The new GPU is said to provide better overclocking potential and, at the same time, lower power consumption."

I actually just learned about it when I was reading reviews of the gigabyte 780 ghz last night..but I'm pretty sure a lot of the 780s on the market right now are B1 instead of A1.

BallaTheFeared, how do you like your card? Any reasons why I should go with AB over precision?

Yeah I like it, nice card, good cooler, sexy backplate.

Really no reason to use anything other than MSI AfterBurner.

Precision has a poopy voltage control interface, and the 1.3v softmod only works with AB anyways.

I have the slightly weaker Gigabyte GeForce GTX 780 Ti OC, and while I have a beefier PSU (860W), my UPS has never reported anything above 500W. Keep in mind that the figure includes nearly 160W used by my monitors (my Dell U2709W is a little power hungry).

Ooh free hardware sounds nice! Also, I like the kitty with the AMD symbol on his head

As long as the GTX 780 is going to be the only GPU in your system, your 550W Seasonic will be sufficient for any CPU/GPU OC

Afterburner has a good bit more monitoring features, software voltage mod and can record gameplay and you don't have to login like they force you to do on stupid EVGA's website to download the program.

Did you confirm that you received a B1 chip with gpu-z? Some of the reviews I have seen still show an A1 revision in their posted screenshots.

I wound up cancelling that order and getting the evga 780gtx ftw, I like EVGA's customer service and didn't want to deal with any hassles in case of the slim chance that I had a problem with the card.

However I heard that GPU-Z actually displays A1 regardless of whether the revision is A1 or B1, something to do with Nvidia not updating the revision field that GPU-Z reads information off of.

Here is some information about this issue:

http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/revision-b1-gk110-new-gtx-780-all-gtx-780ti.196767/

AFAIK the only way to confirm whether you have a B1 chip is to take apart the HSF and look at the GPU as of right now

So far this card has been terrific, idles at 29c and doesn't go past 65c under load, that's gaming not furmark btw. Fan never goes past 39% and its super quiet

I think if your BIOS version starts with 80.80 in GPUZ its a B1?

Good call on canceling OP I have the same card but Ti version and it crashes and cannot hold stock clocks.

I am returning it to Newegg.

I have read about other users with Gigabyte GHz cards having similar issues.

Sounds right, actually now that you mention it I remember reading something about that at some point. GPU-Z says my bios is 80.80.31.00.80

Edit: Found this http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=2062643 seems like its a mixed bag of opinions as far as whether thats true or not. Some people are saying that both A1 and B1 chips are using that Bios that supposedly only is used with the B1s. It's possible the bios was released shortly before the B1 revision and so some A1s were released with it. In any case there is apparently not a significant difference between the A1 and B1, I guess temps might be a little bit lower but thats about it. So unless you are doing some extreme overclocking and volt modding it isnt really an issue

Edit again: I looked over that forum post again, and the poster stated that the 80.80.21 was the B1 version bios, when I think he ment 80.80.31. Judging from other forums the B1s have 80.80.31 but I still dont know if thats a definitive way to tell whether you have the B1 or A1

I've read stuff about noisy fan bearings on hardocp as well, but the card not being able to hold out of the box clocks is just ridiculous, what are you going to replace it with?

Mine is really quiet, no noise from it at all. And max temp i have seen reported is 75c running valley, but ussually runs between 70 and 74. A ref Ti ($630), and going to OC it. I am not playing a premium for a card that wont hold clocks. And what i mean by not holding clocks is that it crashes. It wont even boost down, it will just crash. I have down clock it -80 and still had one crash the other day.

I think something is wrong with the bios, they are rated by Gigabyte to 1150 after boost. Mine goes to 122X and so does everyone else with the Ti Ghz card. So by down clocking -80 it actually goes to the design 1149 clock after boost. And it was stable for a few days. Then i had a crash again. Power supply is HX1050 that was previously running two 6950 in xfire with no issues. And has run two 290 in xfire without issues. I though gigabyte was binning the chips for the ghz but i guess not.

I have done a clean install and also a different mobo and cpu with ram, still crash.

Both BF4 and Ghost.

I am not the OP, but you can see my post there under papi4baby.
