I'd like to like 360, but I look through the games I could buy, and I can't find any compelling game to justify buying one.

Well I just picked up Table Tennis.

I have to say it's one of the most fun games I've played in a long time. Plus live arcade is tons of fun.

I'm going to be buying a 360 soon.

Gotta say this thread has been hilarious! That ulfhednar with his L33T gaming rig that he says "costed" him £800 so he can play oblivion! then proven to be a liar lol. Pure ownage.

I'd much rather sit on my couch and have a great gaming platform at a fraction of the "costed". lol.

Personally, I think resolution isn't as important as the graphics themselves. Take gears of war for example, that game will probably look a lot better then many pc games you play at 1920x1200. What I'm trying to say is that resolution isn't everything, and you shouldn't judge a console's "power" based on it.

Another example that comes to mind is RE4 on gamecube. That game had one of the best visuals I've ever seen in a console game, but I doubt it has the power to output some crappier gamecube game in 1080i.

Sometimes it's easy to get cought up with the technical jargon, you lose sight of what's what...

Well, that seems to be the rub. When MS tries to do something different (Viva Pinata for example) people get up in arms about why the 360 is doin something different instead of the next version of Game X. When MS announces a sequel, people get up in arms about why the 360 is doing another game of the same genre instead of something new and different.

Anyways, check out games like Mass Effect, Viva Pinata, Forza Motosport 2, Test Drive Unlimited (new way of doing a racing game), Gears of War, Blue Dragon, Trusty Bell, Lost Odyssey, Dead Rising, Saint's Row, Lost Planet, plus any number of Live Arcade games.

The sustainable framerate at those resolutions under the currently available APIs and chipset designs was too slow. But nonetheless, the capability existed. It's been refined and sharpened over the years, but I have NO doubts at all that a software title with appreciably nice visuals could be coded to run at 1920x1200 on a Radeon Classic at a constant 60FPS if there were such a demand. It would require farming out much of the processing to the CPU, but it's very much possible. The thing is that situation-specific programming like this would NEVER fly on a PC - but it's what you're GUARANTEED to have the luxury of on a console, because the hardware is always the same. Don't have enough power here? Do it over there.

This is how the xbox could be competitive even though it essentially amounted to a GeForce 2 and a Celeron 600 - because every last one they ever built was like that.

I'm sure you've been completely made fun of later in the thread...but you need to shut the fvck up. YOU KNOW NOTHING. Almost everything you said in this post and your previous posts is completely fud. I'm not going to write out each dumbass remark and refute it...but for one, the original xbox had a modified version of the Geforce 3 that was actually close to the GeForce 4 in design (so an upgrade to the 3).

Anyway, just shut the fvck up with the crap you spew. Every thread I ever see you post in is full of BS.

PS2 is the far superior system of all time. The library of games , and the psONE library as well...DAAMNN!
I actually had a first release date ps2, just recently had issues playing titles, and I bought a new one, just because I know I will play it that much more!

And recently I won a gamecube for $40, and I am not regreting my purchase...but the library of games is extremely small...

the 360.....blah...nothing original on that system, some upgraded eye candy, but in all honesty...the Resident Evil remake on the gamecube can give most titles on the 360 a run for its money...

Xbox 360= Dreamcast 2!!!!
(I own a DC as well....and man...that system had potential...but failed miserably...)

Did you own a NES? I would argue that is superior to PS2. I would also argue that the PS1 > PS2 b/c I never cared for backwards compatibility.

More likely this was a case where they just did that to prevent people from using normal cables when they inevitably roll over the one with a chair, but whatever. Also, it's bigger than my PS2 and gamecube combined. And that's just the power adapter.

Comments on controller: Better than the xbox original, better than the xbox S, worse than the Dualshock 2.

Comments on aesthetics: It still looks like an Apple product.

Comments on the graphics (Dead Rising or whatever that Zombie game is, plain 'ol TV, composite input): What in the name of god is everyone so excited about!?!? It looks JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER 3d game in the past few years. Sure, there's more ****** on the screen. Whoopty friggin' do. Even on an HDTV running at 1080p, it's only JUST BARELY drawing more pixels than my PC's video card was drawing in 1998. Thereby, the precision on the vector math can be turned waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down. Also, on a normal TV, the fvcking text is unreadable.

Comments on the game (That damned Zombie game): Unreadable text, somewhat fun, I'd play it through if they stuck it on a REAL gaming platform (PC) and not the bullshit kid's stuff.

... lame.

Everybody is entitled to their own opinion but judging the poweress of the system while playing on a SDTV is just mind boggling dumb.

I think the accusations of the OP being a fanboy are justified. Either that or he is just naive beyond belief.

Well, most people WILL be playing it on an SDTV, at least for the next few years. Seems like anybody and everybody on ATOT has an HDTV, but in the real world that's not the case. 10% is all.

HDTV. Try some other games, it looks hot even in 720p.

But to base your final judgement on a console b/c your TV is sh!tty is stupid. You don't put regular unleaded in a Porsche 911 Turbo and then bitch b/c it then sputters, knocks and pings around town.

I'd beg to differ on those stats. I'm sure the penetration for HD is a lot higher than, if they don't they are severely missing out. DVD adoption was phenominal, HDTV is following the same suit. Me personally I don't know a single person that doesn't have an HDTV.

I'd "guess" the number is higher than 10%. Sure I have no proof, just shooting from the hip here. The folks that can't afford/don't want to spend the bucks on a HD gaming console need not be included in the equation.

10% adoption as of the end of 2005

Aren't those Candian numbers? Candians have less of a disposable income than us Yanks.

http://www.tvtechnology.com/features/news/n_dtv_growth.shtml

Household penetration of HD sets climbed to nearly 10 percent in the past 12 months as sales of LCD and plasma flat-screens showed impressive growth amid steadily falling prices. ED and SD flat screens also became more than a couple of one-of-these-days fantasies for consumers.

I highly doubt it. I don't know too many people with HDTVs

Interesting. But what percentage of households have an Xbox 360? I'd be more inclined to believe that the majority of Xbox 360s are hooked up to an HDTV rather than a SDTV.

Of course I'm pulling that out of my ass, but no moreso than every post by the OP in this thread

Sorry OP, I couldn't resist.

Even if the HDTV adoption rate is %10, I bet the growth rate is extremely high, and in a year or two I think 9/10 TV's bought would be HDTV's.

Personally, I didn't want to buy a PS3 but if it can do 1080p, with the falling prices of HDTV's, it might be an awesome combination... Not that 720p is bad, but 1080p would so own

Plus now PS3 has Ninja Gaiden Sigma and DMC4, makes me want a ps3 more and more why does it have to be $600? Just leave the BR out for god's sake...

My 360 was the biggest waste of $400 I've ever spent in my life. Haven't played since 2 weeks after Dead or Alive 4 came out, and that was 12/29/05. Worthless piece of sh!t.
