Should I lock this? Or leave it for the fools who believe the OP? Surprised it took until jeanclaude to point out the obvious. Woman of child bearing age - pregnancy test. -Admin DrPizza

I understand. Although, the only thing that's "unbelievable" is the fact that hospital did not give her a pregnancy test. However, are they legally required to do so? Can anyone prove this?

Gonna try to keep it short through cliff style.

1. I'm Asian male in mid 20's.
2. Last year, I hook up with a white woman in her mid 30's.
3. She gets stage 2 stomach cancer.
4. She goes through radiation therapy and gets surgery.
5. After the surgery, she gets scanned and they find a baby in her uterus.
6. Baby already 6 months old and abortion is not an option.
7. We agree on adoption.
8. She changes her mind as baby comes out.
9. She and I remain friends as she takes care of the baby.
10. I finally grow the balls to tell my parents about the baby today.
11. My mom has panic attack and curses at me.
12. Parents are furious about the fact that I'm not married, she's white, she's much older, she had cancer and so on.
13. I feel crappy now.

This is a serious issue for me so I ask you guys to keep it civil.

Please do all of us a favor and save the, "OMG EPIC, popcorn + lawn chair, FAIL, pics!!... etc."

OP, I see you are online.

Is any of this true or is it some kind of project for college on how people on messageboards react to this kind of stuff?

No way. We love reading other posters saying that the OP should have aborted his child.

Yes, the first thing they do for females in almost any medical situation, especially, most definitely, the one you described, is give them a pregnancy test.

Does the baby look Asian?

It's true.

I don't see what's so unbelievable about it though.

There has been many cases where women didn't know they were pregnant really late.. or until the baby actually popped out in the toilet.

Yeh, but.... no pregnancy test really is strange here. The hospital is in deep shit for doing radiation and all and not even making sure she was/wasn't pregnant. Some women opt to NOT have their cancer treatment until after the baby is born. It's a wonder the baby is OK with all the radiation concentrated in that area. Is the baby OK?

Did she have the cancer treatment in the U.S.?

Yes. He looks more Asian than white. Although, his hair is still light brown since his mama is a blonde.

No. Let the troll try and dig his ass out of this mess.

No harm no real foul so far. The OP just lost any cred.

Always amusing to read male perspectives on womens health issues (and I am in that category - I just have collegaues who I can turn to and whose opinions I fully trust).

For instance I found it utterly inconceiavble that a woman could hit 6 months without knowing that she is pregnant but I have been informed by females docs no less, that it can and does happen. A minority experience yes but not unimaginable.

Baby checked out 100% healthy which is the only reason why we didn't get pursue a legal route against the hospital.

But, I don't even know if hospital is legally required to give a pregnancy test. I'd love to find out.

Yes, the hospital is liable for giving a pregnancy test. I am sure it is proper policy and procedure. I would bet on it.

Not sure I am right in entertaining you in this thread, b/c I'm still not convinced it's authentic, but... wth.

WRONG. The unbelievable part is now most of your story.

The type of cancer, the treatment, the consequences of surgery, the survival rate - 95% chance of 5 years at best. It is an ugly cancer that clobbers the body. The cancer and the fetus are essentially in the same space. This is not lung or brain cancer and potentially overlooked. Still malpractice. No hospital would forgo a cheap quick preggers test - the risk of a huge malpractice suit is just too great. Esp in America where they sue for everything.

The radiation treatment of chemo combo would kill or very likely cause massive damage to the fetus. Any doc would recommend a termination. Ethically and procedurally.

Perhaps you dont know all the details and she is lying to you but as it stand, they way you have laid it out, this story is approaching terminal FAIL speed.

String it along if you must but your latest reply is unlike the more informed and thoughtful earlier ones. Calling bullshit - again.

It's an Asian culture thing. I'd say they are more close-mind than racists.

No, Koreans are pretty racist.

If you are really Korean, then this story will spread like wildfire through the Korean community in the coming weeks, and will be made into a Korean drama in the coming months. I will ask my parents if they have heard such a story to confirm OP's story.

What stage was her gastric cancer classified at when she was diagnosed?

Stage 0, Stage I, Stage II, Stage III or Stage IV?
