you and the OP are souless POS..

Hey, I'm not the completely irrational and idiotic cat owner (that was redundant) who let a kitten run around a house full of drunk people.

While the OP sobered up, the cat owner remained stupid.

Backstory: I had invited a whole bunch of people to hang out at my condo, including a certain friend who had a three-month old kitten that she brought along since I suppose she wanted to show it off. Anyway, after the gals had given up admiring the thing she set it loose with my permission. A little while later I was headed down to the kitchen to grab a few more beers, admittedly not really watching where I was going, when I stepped on something soft and warm going down the stairs, stumbling and falling down the stairs headfirst, spraining my ankle.

When I looked up I saw the stupid cat not moving where I had stepped a moment ago and a bit of blood on the carpet. Of course the girl freaked and we rushed the kitten to the vet where it has been since then. The vet says it's highly unlikely the cat will make it through the night.

Now, the girl wants me to pay her (she hasn't said how much) and is majorly pissed off. Honestly I want to say fck her, I broke my ankle and she's just being a bitch, it's not my responsibility she brought her retarded cat in the first place.

What do you guys think?

Update: Clover is dead. The girl just sent me a fax with a picture of the kitten and a message generously strewn with obscenities. I think she is going crazy.

you killed the cat.. you pay for it.. you heartless POS

He won't. He is a whiny child who goes to an internet forum after killing his friend's animal while drunk.

On principle I don't think I'm obligated to give her a cent, and I told her that from the start. Read the rest of the thread for details.

The law says otherwise.. and the law is more important than your "principle." I hope you get sued. And if karma really does exist, be prepared for an ass whooping.

I beg to differ.. the law is altogether irrelevant and I fail to see why people keep bringing it up. If I do get sued it will just be yet another example of the ridiculousness of our justice system.

However I will keep my eyes open next time I curl up on someone else's steps, lest karma send a rather large person my way.

LOL, it's funny just how irrational and emotional cat fanatics are. You don't find dog owners acting like this, even though they do love their pets.

I doubt he'll get an ass whooping. From a girl and/or effeminate male cat fanatics? Not a chance.

Besides, the law states that cats are property, and she had her property destroyed in someone else's house. She might not win.

In addition, the court fees would outweigh her award in court. She'd spend $500 suing him to get back $100, or whatever rats and cats cost.

I am willing to bet if this was a dog that got stepped on and killed the turn out would be more. I have owned dogs and cats. I have 3 cats now, once I have a house my wife and I will add a shiba and corgi to our mix.

Call me effeminate if you want, but I am willing to go toe to toe with anyone that wants to be pro-killing animals. Won't say I will win them all...but I will fight them. I don't know if you heard about the Chipper deal from http://www.10thlife.org/chipper.htm but it happened locally here. In a bar waiting for our movie one night with my wife, some guys were making fun of it when it came on screen. Talking all cats should be killed, etc...they ended telling me they were just joking about it.

The 'law' once stated children and wives are property too by the way.

why not pay half of the vet bill anyway, even tho you aren't obligated? to smooth things over. A kitten is dead.

who the fsck cares about a KITTEN? Not a cat, a kitten, who she probably only had for a few damn months. Definitely not long enough to form any kind of lasting connection. Once she gets a new one she will forget all about this. The fact that she demands money from him is reason alone to tell that bitch to fsck off.

No more useless than the selfish bitch that wants everyone to watch out for her property.

Sentient beings are not property.

Going a bit off topic here.

Would you take a sentient being's children against their will? Would you take a sentient being's children and sell them off? Would you take another sentient being's child by force? Sounds a lot like slavery to me.

If you "own" a cat, I'm pretty sure you had to participate in at least one of the above. At the very least, the cat you "own" was taken away from its mother against the mother's will. Does that make you a slave owner?

What?s done is done but you both share in this episode. You should have never agreed to let her bring the kitten into to the party. She should have kept track of it at all times.

Her actions show that she is not very responsible or mature. Due to her lack of concern the pet would probably have met with an early demise eventually.

But your permission allowed the cat to play in traffic and it got run over. Split the vet bill and call it a day.

I would under no circumstances finance her next unfortunate pet

1) cats and their young are a little different than people and theirs.

2) most intelligent animal owners have them fixed.

The problem is like most of these type of arguements, is that the antagonist is painting a fake picture of the other 'side'. Most animal owners are not saying their animals are better than people...they understand the relationship.

However, to Soviet...humans sometimes have to pay to just property damage. No one is going to say a hotel wall or a park bench is worth more than a human life though (at least sane anyway).

1. Cats suck ass, and dogs are awesome

2. Having a tiny 3 month old animal running around a house of drunk people is stupid

3. The op isnt responsible for an accident, the cat owner was careless.

4. Id say the same thing if it was a puppy, and I am a total dog lover.

Why talk about something you know nothing about? Small claims court is cheap as hell to file and vet damages are easily sued for. I am not a cat fanatic. I am a fanatic about irresponsible idiots. Oh, and vet bills could EASILY be well over $400.

It took a whole 30 seconds to look up on google:

Amount of your claim: Filing Fee
For $0 to $1500 of damages it costs $30 to file. In CA: http://www.courtinfo.ca.gov/selfhelp/smallclaims/

Why respond to something you DON'T FRIGGIN KNOW!? Just to sound ignorant?

#1 set you now as an advocate.

#2 is correct.

#3 is sort of stupid...he STEPPED on the cat. The owner was careless though.

#4 if so then, your dog(s) (assuming you actually own your own) must not be important.

Never assume. She should have never assume people (especially when you're talking about mass people at parties) to be careful around little creatures. It is her pet and her responsibility in the end to look after it.

I absolutely love my dog more than you can imagine. I would be completely devastated if it was my dog. But I wouldnt want money from the person who stepped on my puppy. Although to be honest, If I had a 3 month old puppy, id be following it around constantly

Then tell her to file a claim and stop sounding like a whiny bitch. Because as of right now, she's just a whiny bitch with a dead cat.
