Specifically the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid.

Except despite having a dealer with connections and my father being a Ford employee...they aren't sure when I'll actually get the car. Best guess would be 3-5 months according to the manager of the dealership. They only had me put $300 down...enough that it basically shows them I'm serious about buying it, and if I don't want it...it is refundable at least

It will be Light Ice Blue exterior, charcoal black interior.

I got what Ford calls a Rapid Spec 501A

So option wise it means I get the power moonroof, 12 speaker 390 watts sony sound system, the 'drivers vision package' which consists of a backup camera(built into the rearview mirror since I didn't get a nav system which is really cool), blind spot warning system and cross traffic warning system.

Total price after tax, destination, title, and plate fee, and A-plan, $28,163.42

I'm really quite excited despite the prospect of having to wait a little while for my car. And I welcome the chance to basically only need gas maybe twice a month, maybe less, if I don't make any long car trips.

I'm gonna try and keep this thread updated as far as when I get the car for pics and such.

MINOR UPDATE #1: The car is officially ordered. My deposit check cleared and my order is now pending. Dealership told me if I'm lucky it'll be the last two weeks of March that my car will arrive. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Really, even with your dad being an employee, it's costing you 28k? Kind of hefty me thinks.

Its state tax man....total ball busting almost $1600 for tax alone. Without tax it was $26569.

List price without any options, taxes or extras is 27,990 so *shrug* I knew the price going into it. My dad's A-plan got me like $3900 off the price... At least I get a tax credit out of it all.

Nice, I'm loving the new Fusion and the hybrid too. Maybe you'll get a call from Mulally himself

I've been in one twice...and got to ride around in one for a short amount of time...it's not a test drive but it's something...and I really wanted that $3400 tax credit...call me greedy or stupid or something....anyways despite that it looks alot different than the 09 fusion it's still on the same platform...

I really like a lot of the new Fords coming out, but they really need to focus on the lower price-point cars. Congrats though! Post pics when you get it?

It does feel expensive in this economy for a new Fusion, but maybe yours really is decked out. I heard good things about the hybrid.

Do you know how its trunk room is? I drove a hybrid camry recently and those I liked it, when I opened its trunk I almost felt sick to my stomach. I would never, ever have bought it with such a despicable trunk. I am not even sure it would hold a chocolate bar.

The trunk space is 12cubic feet for the hybrid, 15 for non hybrid, so pretty decent, I mean when I looked in the trunk it seems like alot of room. Or enough for just me. I dont forsee myself moving tons of stuff around

And I guess you could say decked out, only thing I didn't get option-wise was the nav system. It comes standard with ALOT of things to be honest such as Ford SYNC, Dual-zone climate, both 6 way power front seat(driver and passenger), defroster on outside mirror, ABS and electronic stability control, seven color ambient lighting, tire pressure monitoring, and a few other things i cant remember ATM

The focus hits at the lower price point. The new one is pretty good too.

Hey Frank, we need you at the plant.

Whaaaaa... the plant is open, we are building American cars again?

No Frank, some guy ordered a Fusion, we need you next Wednesday morning to bolt the bumper on... soon as you have the bumper on, you can go back home.

The Fusion starts out at $20K. The OP got a top-of-the-line Hybrid. If the deposit is refundable, I might just order one myself to get the tax credit! Hey OP--Is that how it works? You get the tax credit based on your deposit date and not the delivery date?

Regarding trunk space, does the battery pack lie flat and make the trunk shallower?

And here is another glowing review of the Fusion: Best gas-electric hybrid ever!

cool..i plan on looking at the non hybrid version... sport 3.5 all decked out. I drove the 2009...nice cars..quiet, responsive..lots o features..love the sync and ambient lighting...looks pretty good to for a sedan..

dont listen to the Beemer Fan boys...not everyone has 45 grand and then also 350 for an oil change.

The battery pack does not lie flat like the Escape, instead it is vertical behind the rear seats. It unfortunately means you cannot lie the seats flat for extra trunk space.

Regarding the tax credit, Ford is saying and my dealership confirmed that I SHOULD be able to get the full tax credit since I made a good faith deposit and am at this point guaranteed the car as long as I have a down payment + loan secured when the car comes in.

That 3.5 Sport edition will cost you as much as a hybrid...I was going to get the sport edition as well but priced it out and the price was the same. So I figured I could lose the sport moniker and gain the hybrid one. Plus I'm eligible for the tax credit too. Just food for thought for you.

Good stuff man. I never really liked Ford cars, but the last couple of years they really cleaned up their act, there's a few models out now that I would consider buying. I'm actually looking forward to the new Flex/MKT with the twin turbo eco tech engine.

Hopefully you drive that Fusion around the city and get a crazy bang for your buck

LOL @ the dealer w/ connection. They'll say anything to get you to place the order w/ them.

Grats on your order, but that's one ugly looking car. The ass is hideous.

Well good for you the stimulus bill has a way to write off the tax on a new car if I remember.
