So I published a book

just curious about the costs involved in publishing and marketing your own book (assuming i have already written one in ms word)

Word will work for paperback, if you have the margins set right, pages sizes, etc. For ebook you need some sort of conversion/formatting software. I use Scrivener, which has a pretty steep learning curve but works great for me.

I do a lot of marketing on Twitter. I have also experimented with various advertisers trying to see which ones get the best results. BookBub is the holy grail but it's hard to get into.

Biggest cost for me is cover design. You can cheap out or do it yourself, but I am not the greatest at graphic design, so I found someone with a style that I liked and hired them out.

Great job! Congrats! I'm a huge bookworm and I also have a blog where I read/review books, post them on Goodreads and Amazon. I think you should also consider giving away free copies of your book (PDF format) to tour hosts in exchange for an honest review, and have them post their review on Amazon. I think that'll give you a higher rating. Just a thought.

I've done some review rounds on Goodreads but they were kind of a waste of time in all honesty. At this point I've got enough verified sales reviews that I'm not having any trouble getting exposure and buy-in from potential customers.

Oh dang, I didn't realize there was a second book in the series! I really enjoyed the first book; very well written and engrossing. It's definitely at the top of my "apocalypse fiction" list, and I've read quite a bit of different titles in the genre.

Still working full time. Thankfully I telecommute so I have extra time I'm not wasting driving back and forth. I try to get at least 1,000 words a day in. Probably average about 20 hours a week, all together.

yea, so, read book 2. Its MUCh more exciting and interesting than my friends million page book about the moon demons. Started book 3, will get to the moon demon book after. Couldnt put book 2 down. So far, 3 is off to a good start.
