I heard not to install the 4 in 1 drives because the IDE bus mastering drive and the agp drive is only for windows 95. Does make much sense why they would do this though.

When I installed the VIA 4in1 driver pack 2 things happened: My CD-rom would disappear from the system and my HDD got way slower. It was like half the performance compared to the built in drivers in Win98 (checked it with Sisoft Sandra). I uninstalled it and then everything was fine (to uninstall, run the installation again).
MSI K7PRO, Win98 (not SE) IBM and Seagate HDD:s, Samsung CD-rom.

You are ofcourse right brijesh33, I must have been confused. The one I installed was AMD:s driver pack 1.00. Sorry about that.

Hey Othello doesn't MSI K7PRO uses AMD chipset not VIA, unless there is another version of K7PRO out there i'm not aware of that uses VIA chipset.

I just install all 4 in 1 drivers on my Win98 os1,had no problems at all, just make sure you tick enable DMA when it comes up on install,BTW have tried 4.24,& 4.25a with no problems on my MSI K7T Pro board.

Ok, My understanding is that the 4-in-1 installation will correctly detect and install all the proper things you need. So you shouldn't worry about what you do and don't need to install.

Yes, that's correct. I originally thought the busmaster driver was included in the 4-in-1's. It is in fact a separate driver and not necessary to install.

look what i just found. this is a via bustmaster driver that enables full ata-100 support in w2k. http://www.soltek.com.tw/English/download/drivers.htm
