no surpise really. Honda has always been one of the worst company's when dealing with used vehicles. they know people are fucking idiots when it comes to Honda's. Far to many are stuck in the 80's mentality that they are far superior to everything else. So many are willing to pay insane prices for a used vehicle.
I remember looking for a used accord (favorite car to buy! have owned 6 of them) a few years ago and the price of a 2 year old one with 30k miles was more EXPENSIVE then a new one. it's insane.
The ford focus is a nice little car. When i was having issues with my Taurus i had one as a loaner vehicle for like 6 months. it got great gas mileage (averaged 34mpg,) and drove great.
And at a good price!
No, it's more that many, many years ago, there was a noticeable quality difference between foreign and domestic cars.
Now, not so much, but the public is slow to realize it.
Get a Mazda 2. Was going to get my wife a fit until we saw the price tag. We ended up getting a brand new 2 for the same price as a fit with 82k miles.
That's basically a fiesta isn't it. Same platform and the fiesta gets the slightly more powerful engine
The fiesta hatchback would have been an extra 4 grand and the local ford dealership would not sell us a manual in hatchback. Only the sedan was available in manual and we didn't want a sedan.
He kept telling us how superior their CVT transmissions were and that we didn't want a manual. Well we drove it and we both thought it felt like crap and the car felt really slow with the auto.
The 2 in manual feels way more powerful. We didn't drive the automatic but both my wife and I agreed we wanted the manual.
MSRP on a Fit? Seriously? I'd have laughed and walked out.
Try internet sales for multiple dealers, stuff like a Fit should be below invoice.
That is odd since the fiesta has a dsg. I've never driven a fiesta only been in it during the fiesta tour they had before it came out in a manual one while a friend drove who was thinking of getting one. Heard the dsg was great strange. Maybe you should they another ford dealer .
My 2002 Chrysler, which I owned since new, blew its transmission at 83,000 miles a few years back. Chrysler said, "Out of warranty, not our problem," despite an obvious manufacturing defect. (A tooth in the transmission's hydraulic pump snapped off.) Absolutely inexcusable, and I'll never purchase another Chrysler product because of this incident.
I replaced it with an Ohio-built 2006 Civic 4-door (about four years old when I bought it), and the difference in build quality is like night and day.
The US is definitely doing better, but we have a long way to go. Some of the more expensive domestics that I've rented recently, like the Ford Fusion and Buick Lacrosse, have been fantastic to drive. But they're also much more expensive than what I can afford.

This class of vehicle is so competitive now. I'd never settle on one without trying all the alternatives (Ford Focus, Chevy Sonic, Hyundai Accent, Kia Rio, Toyota Yaris, etc...).
Rio and Yaris are awful to drive. Abysmal.
