Many many annoying levels of security.

You get a service rep that's new or incompetent, and use social engineering/distraction tactics and you can possibly get it done. Of course it's hit and miss. You hang up, call back, and get someone else, and try another day. If they are open at night, do it at night, the less senior guys probably end up working night shift, and there wont be managers around to ask questions. Some banks may be better than others, but just saying, you don't want someone to have possession of an active credit card number under any costs.

I used my ATM card, in 2014 at 2 places. The next day, someone tried to charge some concert tickets out of state. The 2 places I used it were Costco for gas, then Del Taco, gee I wonder which place might of had someone try and use it.

I never understood why people get their panties in a bunch over unauthorized CC use either. If it was being used for autopay in a bunch of places and you have to go and make changes in all if them, then I could understand, but outside of that...

It can be a bit of an annoyance. If you only use one credit card and it gets hijacked, you can't use that card until the new one comes in, which usually takes a 1-3 days.

Why haven't most merchants in the US adopted the chip readers yet? Most of the card companies have already sent out new cards with chips because of all the fraud news since Target.

I've seen a few retailers begin upgrading their hardware recently. My local Kroger updated theirs about a month ago, and Target was a few months ago. However, regardless of the available readers, Chase has been the only bank that has given me a new chip-enabled card.

Cabela's gave me a deal on the item, not as good as the original eBay list but I took it so I wouldn't have to pay to return the item.

It seems odd that they'd make you pay to return fraudulently purchased merchandise that was shipped to you.
