it's a good way of making sure you don't get a burger that's been sitting on the warming plate for hours.

I'd never do it in a drive-thru, but if I'm in a BK and it's obviously slow, I'll ask for a burger straight out of the broiler thing... the taste difference is noticeable compared to one that's been sitting around for awhile.
