I had a good laugh today at work... I work for a Cingular call center at AT&T I specifically deal with warranty exchanges, but I had to transfer a call over to the Customer Care reps today. When I was giving the customer information to the CC Rep, she goes "Man it's so busy to day.. " and I was like "oh you're getting swamped with calls for the Iphone huh?" and she's like "yeah, there's tons of calls."

Here's the bad part about the Iphone though

No warranty by Cingular/AT&T, no removable battery, all we can do when you ask is transfer you over to the apple phone lines. On top of that 499/599 for the phone itself, no deals, gotta sign your 2 year I believe. On top of this, if you have buyers remorse, you have 14 days with a 10% restocking fee..... OUCH.

Yeah it's pretty funny.. Personally I have never received an Iphone call today.. but also it's the first day and I got out like an hour or two after they were released so I would hope to god I wouldn't get any calls.

Even if I do get any calls it goes like this:

/me points towards the apple hotline.

Job done. hahaha. I can't wait to hear tons of people bitching at me because I have to transfer them to the manufacturer's hotline.

Maybe if Apple wasnt such a control freak about their products (ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha) they could have gone with a modern network that is everywhere....like Sprint and Verizon's EV-DO. Sprint is slightly faster with EV-DO RevA (consistent 1 Mb/s).

I am waiting for all of the Apple Fanbois to realize what a crappy network Apple was forced to go to

Verizon just announced a nationwide upgrade to Rev. A. Too bad the iPhone's still a piece of shit of a phone.

Er, not it's not. The SIM is removable (located on top in a little drawer).

Actually, yes it is. But nice trice.
The picture you posted is of the logic board folded back.

If you look and read all the disassembly sites, you will clearly see the SIM card is on a removable tray.

http://blogs.business2.com/app...6/iphone-disassem.html
http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/iPhone

The SIM card is removable. Push a paperclip into the hole on top, and the card will come out (you may have to apply more force than you'd expect).

I stand corrected. Now, this begs a questiom - are current at&t subscribers able to use it with their own SIM bypassing the activation and 2 year contract?

Hey nboy22... what's AT&T policy on giving unlock codes? Isn't there some sort of American law that carriers needs to provide it if the customer asked for it? And can YOU get unlock codes?

If you put your sim card in the phone you have to reactivate your device through itunes, I'm not sure what the requirements are for that process (if you need to pick a new data plan) but your sim car will not work.

No unlock codes will be given for this phone and att is not required by law to give them. The law you are referring to refers to the right of the consumer to use software to unlock the phone or hack it.
