I'll do what I always do and recommend a Yamaha.
I found this Yamaha at amazon for $145.
Seems like a reasonable route for a beginner.
My friend just bought that for his daughter for Christmas... I didn't get a chance to play it, but he had a few other guitar players check it out and they all said it was decent.
That's good to know, thanks!
I actually do have that guitar package. I bought it used off craigslist for $100 (I've seen it as low as $80), and it was in perfect condition with original protective wrapping. I'm a complete beginner, so I can't really say how it compares to other guitars, but I find it is a rather decent guitar in the few months I've been practicing on it. The action on mine was good (I believe it was around 3/32" on the 12th fret) and it's definitely something you can learn on. The bag that comes with has no padding at all, so it's not so useful for carrying it around. The tuner does its job, but I much prefer using a computer mic and AP Tuner. The DVD is very basic, but a good starting point, I suppose. The guitar strap is a bit annoying, because there is only one knob on the bottom of the guitar for it to fasten to; you have to tie the other end near the nut.
Lots of more seasoned guitar players would recommend getting a more expensive guitar with a solid top (the F325 is a laminate, as is pretty much all guitars in this price range), but as a beginner, I don't care for that in the slightest. And recognize that this guitar is not a cutaway, so if you get more advanced, that might be important for reaching the higher frets.
