I miss all the great trips I took and the wonderful time I had. Especially this one below...
So me and a few other people decided to go hiking for a few days in the mountains. We'd climb to the top of this peak, then proceed along the ridge to another peak then come down, making a largish loop that would take ~3 days. So we spend a few hours climbing towards that, around 4-5 we stopped at the the base, near an ice lake. It was a hot day and we'd spent many hours sweating, so we took a quick dip in there. It was..different. The water was very cold, probably just a few degrees above freezing. I couldn't stay more than a few minutes, since my entire skin felt as if there were 1000s of needles poking at it. But coming out and enjoying the sun was a great feeling. So we camped by that lake that night, enjoying an incredible sky and consuming the alcohol and MJ we'd brough.
The next morning we climbed to the top of the peak, which is around 2700m, enjoyed it for a few mins, then descended from the other side and proceeded along the ridge to the other peaks. There was some great scenery, however the weather got a a bit cloudy.
That evening it got cold - we made some nice dinner (hot soup and hotter tea!), then tried to sleep. Didn't really happen though...That night wasn't at all pleasant - it didn't rain but the clouds just enveloped the place were we had set up our tents. It was quite cold (elev. about 2400-2500m) we only had light sleepign bags and the tents were leaking a bit by the morning. Luciky, there was a hut about 2hrs away and on our way down we enjoyed some hot tea and a nice breakfast.
From there, we descended through the forest where we enjoyed some wild fruit and about 4 hrs later we came to an old hut. From there, it was just another 10km along fairly level paths back to our car.
I honestly can't describe how much I love mountains, and yet there isn't anything even approaching a mountain within thousands of kilmeters of where I live now.
I definately have to go back there after I graduate. Except this time with a DSLR and some really nice wide angle lens
